Has HTC made any official statements on whether they have any intentions of updating the Incredible beyond Froyo? I would guess no considering the phone is so "old" and there are better devices in their current line up.

For those who care, I've already modified the leak into a custom ROM. It's on XDA (uploading now, or would provide the link). Also posting it in the ROMs subforum here.

Ummm they have made several statements saying that GB would be pushed this summer..officially.

I saw that the leaked rom doesn't have an updated Sense (Which is the latest Sense version?), but the one already on the Incredible. Is the test build a sure sign we're not getting a new version of Sense or is it just what it is, a test build? I would like at least Thunderbolt Sense.

Would the update include a bunch of other crapware too?

Latest is Sense 3, for the Sensation, Evo 3D and tablets - expect that one to be memory hog (tho, devs are trying to port it).

Thunderbolt / DHD Sense is rev 2.

i want this port with a side of GB so bad i wouldent even care if my phone ran like commodore computer lol

There are definitely some elements of 2.0. It seems like they just ported the existing Sense to Android 2.3.3. It is simply a test build though, as the full leak doesn't have much bloatware on it. But that also likely means we're quite a way from an official release.

Now, I'm completely psyched about my phone again. I had moved all my Android fanboyism to my tablet. I'm now highly anticipating the GB. I see a few Alpha ROMS floating around. Can't work up the courage to try them out quite yet.

I'm excited about this thread being stickied and that the rumored time frame is actually approaching.

Motorola Droid Pro getting its Gingerbread update | Android Central

Again......Verizon on its knees for Motorola.....Does Verizon even care about HTC phones? I think that after my Incredible is able to be upgraded, I am done with Android. This fragmentation of operating systems is ridiculous. I am going iPhone. Maybe once android gets its act together, I might take a look at another phone. But crappy battery life, low app space, no OS updates....these things are killing my Android experience and leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

Anyone know what what Verizon's variant of the HTC Sensation is going to be called?

Not sure where to begin....

But the rumored time frame for the Gingerbread update is approaching and a test build is already floating around.... so.. yeah.

I know, but it makes me mad that the Incredible was/is Verizon's super-phone and it is always the last to get update love. I'm just impatient. Even though I know this, I called HTC about another issue and was told the Incredible wasn't getting the update to GB. I know, I know...it's only one rep....but I am wondering if the rest of HTC's phones are going to get the shaft from Verizon. The Thunderbolt already got updates, but I heard they were needed because the phone had problems. I want to stay with an HTC phone...I want a Sensation Variant for my next phone...but if Mr. McGoo keeps managing updates...I'd have second thoughts.

Is your phone really having major problems that this update will fix?

Yeah, there's the battery issues that many complain about, but GB really doesnt do a whole lot. The 'fragmentation' thing is mostly a myth propagated by apple fanboys. Its not like theres a shitload of phones out there that cant run almost all current apps. Most apps will run on 2.1 or greater (95% share) , and almost all will run on 2.2 or greater (70%). I dont believe all apps can run on an iphone 3G\3Gs, so there are going to be phones left behind no matter what OS youre on.

In my experience yes, Moto products have gotten their OS upgrades quicker than HTC handsets. However, each time Moto has had to release SIGNIFICANT updates to fix problems their initial upgrade caused, HTC hasn't had (at least that I've seen) that Moto has. What this says to me is that HTC spends MUCH more time testing their builds before releasing them for public consumption.

The memory partition is the thing that is killing me. It seems like all other phones can download unlimited apps and not get the low app space error. I was told that HTC was going to increase or eliminate the partition in GB. Other than that, I love the Incredible and plan to keep it until December when I can upgrade or even beyond. I guess I could root, but I am not very comfortable doing that and I don't feel I should have to. If companies are going to participate in an open platform...they need to support that platform..(hear me Verizon?) I wish Verizon would get a nexus phone.

I love HTC. The Incredible is the best phone I ever had. I would totally go for a dual core/Sensation variant for my next phone....even if it means I have to wait for OS updates. I just wish HTC would put bigger batteries in these things!
