Guys. VZW President could post a video saying an exact date and it would be quite meaningless except to confirm they are doing the update. VZW usually pushes fairly quicky as soon as all testing is done. Look for the PDF on their website and then realize your phone will get the update within 10 days.

However. I really enjoy the insider posts. They are a lot of fun.

The only other thing is that even if you believe Evan. Never give him info. The insider trolls are dangerous when people start trying to get help and give them info.

I hope I'm not being referred to as an "insider troll" for some reason....I said that I had info on the droid x getting gb about a day or two before it happened but haven't seen anything about the inc getting it.

As far as asking for info...I never have, and never will. Not exactly sure what was meant by that whole thing honestly...

The out-of-memory issue is completely addressed in Nils Gingersense ROM, but I don't know if that is "Nils Magic" or if it is part of Gingerbread on Incredible. Once can hope...

For what it's worth, I was anxiously awaiting Gingerbread following this thread, then I tried Nils Gingersense, and now I use that as my daily driver, it's great. I am still looking forward to this update, as I suspect it will make Nils Gingersense even better...

It was a general comment about people claiming to be insiders who turn out to be trolling. It in no way was directed to any single poster but a group of posters who fit the above criteria.

If you claim to be an insider but are trolling, then it was about you. If you don't claim to be or you are not trolling, it was not about you.

Clear?

Is there any more information on this? How was it addressed? I browsed the thread at XDA Dev forum but haven't noticed it mentioned in ROM features.

I'm not sure exactly how they do it, but if you look at apps that normally take a lot of space in /data/data, such as netflix (14MB or something crazy!), you will see that the lib directory there is actually a symlink, and they put the data in another partition (I think /data), so if you are full, it is because you used all all 750MB, not just the 150 of /data/data. Not sure when they decide to symlink, it seems there is some logic there, as it isn't all apps that are in /data/data. I like it, cause it just works.

Not sure if that is due to how Gingerbread is done on the Incredible, or Nils' ROM customization, or from the ROM his is based on, etc.

Cheers

I guarantee the official update won't contain that fix. The /data/data partition is there and hidden for a reason (to keep private data private). Neither Google nor HTC would implement something that would compromise that, like this would.

You'd have to ask Nils, because this issue still exists in the actual Gingerbread leak. Also, Nil's ROM isn't based on the Incredible GB leak. It's a port of a port of a port. If you trace his current ROM back to the original rip, it's from an Ace leak, with Sense 3.0 elements added.

just got the OTA update!!! wooooot gingerbread!!!

You want to get in on the bridge offer I made to Evan? ;)

...and that will be that 2.3 will be out sometime in the unspecified future, maybe, if there aren't "network problems", or "planets out of alignment"...

No offense...but please, just stop.

No offense, but if you don't like what evan is providing, ignore him. Other people do appreciate that he isn't necessarily trolling. If he has info he wants to share, I for one want to see it.

Jumping down every "insiders" throat because you assume they're making it up is bad for the community. In my opinion worse for the community than the trolls themselves. Just because Evan hasn't been proved right yet doesn't mean he's wrong. I believe Fram's post sums that up pretty well.

Me, too. I just think there's not much point in posting "I'll have info to post later". If you have info, post it. If not, don't drop what looks like a teaser. I hope Evan's legit, but let's be clear on what's informative, and what's useless banter -- like this very post o' mine :D

Hmm...Not sure if it is a big security hole...the way it seems to be implemented is a smarter "move to SD Card". If you move to sd card, it also seems to pick up the libs dir from these now, where it didn't before...that seems to alleviate a large part of the problem, but since it is only the libs, isn't that going to be "safe"? It doesn't move databases or anything else, far as I can tell.

Uh huh. How's that morning working out for you? Don't tell me... network problems?

Hello this is Evan from Verizon NRB

Just got home from work. We had a meeting today and our manager quickly mentioned 2.3 push for the incredible. We were told the push will begin this coming Monday and it will be the FINAL software update for the Inc. I also found out that the image is already setup on the distribution servers and is ready to be deployed.
