No. GB will happen. Although I highly doubt it will be even close to as god as CM7. I'm sure it will be a laggy spammed up version of GB with sense.

Based on the GB leak we have so far, it's not laggy at all. But, that's because it seems that HTC has no intention of giving us Sense 2.x. It's Sense 1.0 with very few elements of 2.x.

Which, im fine with. If they want to make their sense improvements the things that differentiate between models and give a reason to upgrade, fine, as long as we get OS updates.

Ideally id like android os updates to become separate from the manufacturer though, and more like windows updates are.

I agree. I would love to be able to go buy the "hardware" (the phone), then get home and load the OS (cm7 etc.) of my choice. Choose a phone based on hardware...

Wow! I have heard good things about CM7, but comparing it with God is quite the statement! You certainly got me to look at it with that endorsement! I was going to just stick with Nils Business Gingersense, but geesh, close to as god as CM7, wow.

(Apparently now, I have to say something about bunnies so everyone knows I am joking. Ah, how's this:)

You could have just said it would wup any killer bunnies butt, and I would have been sold!

Cheers
RoboCuz

Those killer nazi bunnies are keeping us from our gingerbread, rise up in arms!

On a serious note: I love my phone and I'll be giddy when I get the update, until then I'm still having an incredible experience. (get it? ahaha...don't shoot me please!)

CM7 and MIUI are both so good that stock gb will never touch either. I can't wait for the time when I can run dualrom and switch between the 2 easier.

humm i dont see how HTC can say we dont have the hardware to run sense 3.0 when all the ports and gingersense roms i have ran the 3.0 elements flawlessly

First of all... just wanted to say that reading all the posts made me laugh... and the comments about bunnies, werewolves, and vampires made me register on the forums just so I could post this article which I just saw... which **may** explain why 2.3 hasn't rolled out yet.

Motorola Gingerbread updates full of bugs

But for the record, I still think that Evan person is full of it. Maybe I should come back here on a daily basis and say "I have it on good authority that later today or early tomorrow 2.3 is going to be rolling out." Eventually I'll be right.

And someone about 2-3 pages back said "Just because he hasn't been proven right doesn't mean he's wrong." Uhh... yeah. Not being right is kind of the benchmark for being wrong. Remember the end of the world thing a month ago that kinda didn't pan out? There ya go.

Edit: Yes, I am aware that the article refers to only Motorola builds. But I'm reading into it a bit. If I'm a Verizon PR person, and find out that the newest update for half of the phones that Verizon sells is garbage, I'm going to casting a wary eye at how the update affects the other half of my phones.

Proven right that he is in fact a Verizon employee and does have current information (that could have changed after he saw it). There are any number of ways he could be an insider telling us what he's been told and not have the update materialize. Or he could be full of it.

And unlike the guys source for the end of the world knowledge, Verizon is neither all knowing nor all powerful.

Which he has in no way been proven to be. Just sayin...

So... yeah. I could either be the prophet that God selected to tell the world about the end of times... or I could just be another clown claiming to have some insider information about something that is going to happen at some as yet undetermined point in the future.

You know who I want to hear from? The guy that makes the decisions. Not some lackey who probably sells cell phones in a store who heard from a guy that knows a guy at corporate.

You chose that analogy, not me.

And I'd love to here from that guy as well. That's not going to happen. And as been mentioned, the CEO, CFO, COO, and CTO's of both Verizon and HTC could announce the update date, and it could still change.

Hello this is Evan from Verizon NRB,

I will be getting more details on the situation tomorrow. The Dev team is a different department from mine so I have to go over and ask around during my break. Will post back what I find at the end of the day tomorrow.

More torture than comedy..... this is killing me. If it wasn't for this damn site I wouldn't even know about another ota!! I blame this forum for hitting the system update button 20 times a day......
