Never thought I'd have to root, but I've been going over the information for the past 25 minutes and it doesn't sound as intimidating as it did 5 months ago. I love the look of MUIU (sp?) and I'm tired of HTC playing around with this update. I'll give it a few more weeks (HTC Vigor should be announced soon and I'm due for an upgrade), but I'm running out of patience.

Keep in mind there was a May leak that was aimed for our phone. That shows promise of an update. They could have very well backed down, but their original stance appeared to be in favor of an update for us.

And don't forget, a Verizon "insider" has said, multiple times, it's coming. Just have to get past the strike, spider monkeys, dingos, and the rest of the 10 plagues.... ;)

I've found all sorts of negative nelly news this morning on other forums also. On the HTC forum, I have seen two alleged e-mails from HTC customer service saying no it will not be updated. Saw someone quoting Evan (! lol) that it will be updated.

Then of course was the official notice earlier this year by HTC that it would be updated.

Meh. I don't understand why HTC or Verizon can just come out with a "Yes it is coming, patience grasshopper" or "Sorry, we just decided that the age of this phone doesn't warrant the work it would take for an update".

Is that so freaking hard? You don't really even need to give a date. Just a "Yes" or "No". I see no purpose whatsoever to keep your customers in the dark.

Well, I can see one black helicopter reason for them to do this, and it is to sell more phones. This sort of practice would drive me away from buying another HTC product though.

Evan: "sorry guys, Verizon labor dispute has pushed back the Incredible update".

Us: "but Evan, please explain how the labor dispute effects updates when it is a dispute on the residential side of Verizon and the Xoom is currently having an update pushed?"

Evan: <crickets>

This morning my phone said update was available and what do you know? Yeah, got the new GB update. Pinch me! Then I woke up. Just like the 2nd coming, nobody posting here knows when it will take place. So much smoke and mirrors or pure BS. Going back to sleep so I can get Ice Cream Sandwich tomorrow.

The only comments I find on their Facebook site about the incredible is the good old "sorry, no new news". I can say I am definitely fed up with HTC at this point.

So your phone pinched you and you woke up? Did I get it right?

Honestly, why is anyone fed up with anyone. They don't owe us an upgrade. It seems like they are working on it but promising nothing.

If this was something we earned or was promised to us, I would.understand.

The only thing to be fed up with is "insiders" trolling this thread. VZW is focused on other more worthy devices and installing their bloat on them. I would be fine with 2.2 if it wasn't for insiders "confirming" that the update was going to happen on another device.

And that is my main problem.... for them to scrap it now is kind of a slap in the face. And I will be upset with HTC as all they need to do is get a working update to vzw and they eventually push it out.

$5 that email came from this thread, from the CANADIAN customer service. So unless HTC is telling other people this, it means precisely nothing.

I have a massive problem with Phandroid's so called journalism shown here. Reporting emails posted on internet forums as news, despite the fact that it is OBVIOUSLY from a different country, and thus completely meaningless. Have they even HEARD of due diligence?
