Good to see someone post there is a OTA push on again. Was wondering if it would before the Thunderbolt II went to market. LOL

Yes and no. It IS the official update, but it is hosted on a different site, and released by different people. And verizon wouldn't tell you to do install it this way. But it is the official update, tested and approved by verizon.
I did the update this way. Do I still need to due a factory update? Or does this method due a clean install instead of a patch?

ok, my phone just updated. I know gingerbread is actually a minor update but can someone tell me any differences from froyo to GB on the incredible. I've actually tried fast boot and from the white htc screen to lock screen is 5-6 sec. for me.

Did you just get the notification or did you get in last week and kept putting the install off?

is this supported by verizon?

It's the actual update file although they'd probably rather we not update directly from their server, they know it ends up eventually happening every time an OTA rolls out. This is the actual file from the update server. Instead of waiting for it to be pushed, you're just going there directly and grabbing it.

Anytime you see the address starting with android.clients.google.xxx, that means the update address has been figured out.

Oh, I never actually bothered to check out the address. This is what happens when I'm trying to simultaneous debug code in 2 different languages while preparing for class. The adventures of grad school!

2 up from my post. danmil05

No, it's not like that. I did a manual update. I didn't receive the official OTA directly from Verizon. My last couple posts were about me having problems with the hboot not recognizing the update in my sd card. I though some people would have read my previous post before reading that one or i would have said that i only did a manual update.

Gotcha.

So how did you solve the hboot issue? I tried to manually update and hboot wouldn't recognize my update.zip file either.

I did what NightAngel told me to do.

"Where did file save? It can't be in any folder in sd card, rather it must be on sd card but root in this case means /sdcard/update.zip. Did that make any sense?"

Also, if your sd card is formatted to FAT32 or something like that (don't know anything about that), the update should start about a sec after you reach the hboot screen. If not then look back at my last couple post quoting someone that has a picture of his phone with a black screen and blue text.

O ok. That won't work for me since I already made sure the file was in my root directory and the SD card is FAT32. I even have a spare card and reformated it to FAT32 and that still didnt work.

So, it looks like no one can confirm receiving the OTA since Friday.

This OTA better hurry up and get here or else an IPhone5 is in my near future...

I bought an iPad2 about a month ago. I flippin' hate the thing. As soon as a good Android tablet hits the stores I am wiping the iPad2 and selling it. No Flash (which I knew going in but it is a bigger issue on most sites than even I figured) and it locks up just as much as any other computer gadget I have ever had. Not impressed in the least. Was holding out for a Xoom 2 or something similar but impatience got the best of me.

Judging by the multiple posts by "MarquiaF_VZW" in the Verizon forum today I'm starting to wonder if they put the whole thing on hold while they fix some of the bugs reported in the first wave.

I still haven't received the update and the funny thing is that my Dad and brother have and we are all on the same family plan. To add insult I got mine the first day the phone came out while they had to wait a couple months!

I am beginning to think the same thing. No way VZW wants customers without the ability to get VZW apps. :D

All I care about is I'm still right on the poll question. I answered "before Christmas"

It sounds like the roll out has stopped till they fix it. I guess Sept 30 is not that far away huh?

It unfortunately sounds like you are right

Do we have anything to base that on? I'd be shocked if they pulled the update because of the bugs that have been reported thus far. They are minor, and either easily resolved without changing the software (the sd card app bug) or would be fixed by changing a single file.

I haven't read anything to base this on but kind of strange that after a week some people still do not have the update. Again, VZW will say it may take several weeks but no one has verified an OTA since the end of last week.
