Gingerbread 2.3

My dad has a Droid X (I have an Incredible FWIW). I rooted his X and now he's getting an update notice for 2.3. Obviously, being rooted he's afraid to lose root with the update. How do you get rid of the nag. Has anyone addressed this yet?

Doubtful.

Maybe Android Version 2.2.1, which is 2.3.340 system version, but not Gingerbread which would be Android version 2.3.

Yeah its not Gingerbread..
He can do the OTA update and simply install the z4root apk and get rooted again. It works with the latest update 2.3.340.

Like others mentioned its not gingerbread. However it was quite simple for me to root after the update using z4root.

Make sure you get z4root 1.3.0 linked above. Also check USB debugging under settings-applications, and settings - applications -accept applications from unknown sources. Also to unplug your phone from computer before rooting.

After that it was smooth as butter. Make sure he has a full nandroid backup now incase anything goes wrong.
