Make no mistake, Android Central - Andy Rubin, the guy in charge of Android, knows more about what Honeycomb is intended for than you do.There's been a little back and forth about this, but make no mistake -- Honeycomb is intended for Android tablets.
Less than a week to go before my prediction date proves false - or true...
1 week before it is released? or announced???
I dont think it will release next week! maybe announced.
Here's to hoping your prediction is true!Although, I definitely won't be disappointed if it's not true, especially considering the issues Samsung is having with the Galaxy S upgrades to Froyo.
I have a feeling that conversation would be like this:
HTC: We have a major release ready to upgrade the Evo and Evo Shift.
Sprint: Well, we'll have to hold off on that because we're busy with Samsung.
HTC: And in the face of demand from Verizon and T-Mobile for our handsets, you're asking us to wait on your chicken dance with Samsung? Awfully nice supply chain we have for you, sure hope it doesn't have a little accident.
Sprint: Ummmm... I misspoke. When would you be wanting that update pushed out?
HTC: Just in time to make EarlyMon LHA0 oughta do just fine.
Wellsir - I fully expect it to be pinned to an HTC door by the end of the day.![]()
We know for a fact that HTC reads AndroidForums.com - certainly, the Evo forum.
I am holding you to that. LolWell, if you don't have it by this time next week, you get to point and laugh and me.![]()
This is what HTC sent me via e-mail regarding my question about whether or not the HTC Evo will recieve android 2.3 update.
Dear Cory Stapleton, We understand that it is important you receive all the information to best utilize your device. Currently, our developers have to work with Sprint to determine when and if a ROM upgrade will be available. Unfortunately, we do not have any information about an update for your device. We are provided the new ROM versions by Google but have to engineer every update specific for our hardware and the carriers network. Updates are developed specifically for a device. We do not have a time table for when the 2.3 update will be developed for the Evo 4.
First of all thank you Earlymon and Coldfuzion for replying. Secondly, I just bought my Evo so Im not quite on par with the other patiently awaiting Evo owners, but this update is very important to me. Mostly cause nobody likes to buy a new phone and feel left behind, so on that note I will definitely dig deep for more information regarding to this post. Thank ya'll again for your comments.
