Has anyone been able to get this to run successfully? I have tried two times, on separate occasions, and it always gives me an error when trying to update the radio. Error 7 - installation aborted.

you need to sbf, you cannot flash the maderstcok file while on gingerbread, you need to sbf first, then you can run it ^_^
therefore, its much easier to get gb on your phone then off and up and running again if you don't like it? hmmm, decisions, decisions.

Probably more work going TO GB. To go to GB, you have to sbf, reroot, and flash 3 files in succession. Then you will need to set everything back up.
If you are on GB, SBF back to Froyo, root, and restore that nandroid backup you made of your setup before you started sbf'ing in the first place. No setup required.

interesting..what i'm thinking is - i can use the maderstcok.zip while running apex, then root and run those three files..
however, on the way back - I'd have to sbf (i read that the maderstcok.zip won't work while on GB), then reroot and restore.
only difference really being maderstcok.zip vs. sbf'ing?
or am i misunderstanding something?![]()
Misunderstand. I wouldn't even put GB and maderstock or any other .zip installation in the same sentence. You will have trouble if you use it going to or coming back from GB. You simply must use SBF if you want to taste GB or to get the bad taste out of your mouth if you don't like it.
thanks for clarifying, i appreciate it.
seemed to make sense from what i had read.
anyhow, only have a mac in my possession right now - still easier to sbf on a windows machine than on a mac?
I don't have a mac but I did a google search on this and it looks like there is one less step when you sbf from windows, but that you can easily do a mac sbf using the method here: http://androidforums.com/droid-x-support-troubleshooting/181487-can-we-flash-sbf-mac.html
don't know much about dual booting windows/mac osx on my macbook; although, it may be simple...i'll probably wait until i have my windows 7 desktop at my disposal..
thanks for the help!
