Help Gingerbread Battery drain after 1hr49min 91% Android System

I feel your pain, however my phone does last at least a little longer than yours. Before the update, display had the highest drain on the battery. Now after the update, Android System has the largest drain on the battery in crazy percentages, while display is now the lowest. I have tried shutting programs down and battery pulls, but still nothing works. HELP!!!

Ever since the upgrade, I have been lucky if I get a day out of the battery--even if I don't use the phone AT ALL! I've shut down everything I could think to shut down (bluetooth, wireless, gps) and all applications except those that came with the phone and a task manager called, I think, SystemPanel that has a few graphs.

The battery usage display shows that the android system is using 94% of the power, with only nominal percentages for cell standby, display and phone idle.

Can somebodsy please advise? Is there a task manager app that would let me catch whatever it is in the act?

Same issue after GB update. My wife's phone as well. Also dropping GPS signal when using Google Maps.

Android System showing 70% this morning with Cell Standby at 20%. Time without signal at 76%. Tried toggling flight mode to see if that will help the TWS

I don't believe that other people aren't having this problem! I'm getting to the point here I'm considering bagging the phone. What is "CleanGB ROM?"

:DYeah, I'm about ready to try giving rooting a shot. Since the OTA GB update the things that I have noticed are worse battery life and what seems like a memory leak if that's what its called. What I mean by that is cache would build up much faster than it would prior to the GB update and I would have to clear out the cache way more often now. I mean anywhere from a couple megs and up to 20+ megs which is ridiculous.

So what's the vote? Which is the most reliable and stable route to root and which seems to be the most reliable, stable, battery saving and speed boost ROM to go with? Never rooted before so I'm a little worried about taking that first step especially after an update where things that used to work do not work anymore and the talented developers out there have to tinker with and modify code to get things working so people like myself can have the luxury of taking back control over their phones and gettings Sprints bloody paws off of it.

I doubt there's one out there but just in case does anyone know if there's anything like z4Root out there where one can root directly from their phone rather than going through the headaches of using a PC? I just keep reading all the cries for help because something gets stuck on step 6 or cables not working or things hanging etc. Makes me kick myself in the rear for not taking up programming back in the good ole school days when you considered a total nerd for even looking at a computer. Now its like being a rock star. :D
