For what it's worth:
"We are excited to announce that the HTC Thunderbolt will receive the Gingerbread (Android 2.3) update in Q3 2011. Stay tuned for details as we get closer to the update availability

Yea, I'm still in the 'root or not' debate. I'm not too worried about GB, will be nice, but my phone for the most part has been great. I actually denied a certified like new device cause I didn't have any of the main problems and didn't want them.

Have a question. Do you think it would be any chance of us receiving sense 3.0 or is it that GB is as far as the TB can go or handle? Meaning if we want Ice cream we might need to cop the HTC Vigor??? Never rooted any device. Would it take me possibly rooting to achieve those 2 delights and then some???

From what I understand no HTC device has ever received an upgrade to sense so I would think sense 3.0 will never be seen on a stock bolt.

I do not know what the requirements for Ice Cream Sandwich will be but if it does come to the bolt it would be more of an afterthought and too little too late, I expect to see ports in roms both for AOSP then Sense once it is released however.

i think i remember my friend saying ice cream requires dual core

I do not believe google has provided any details of what the system requirements will be for it but I doubt it will require a dual core processor. At one point I believe there was a rumor going around that GB would prevent OEM UIs (Sense, Blur...) and that well didn't happen. From what I've read about Ice Cream Sandwich Google is going to try to stop the fragmentation (Ack I said it) within Android by only allowing dual core phones that would cause further fragmentation.

Mmm....Android 4.0

And maybe because the ThunderBolt 2 (HTC Vigor) is scheduled for October 5. . .HMMM

Yeah I saw that too, but leaks like that are not firm dates ;) I would expect we won't see it until early next year at the earliest, if it makes the 10/5 due date that is great as well.

IF it's out on 10/5 - my phone might suffer severe damage falling out of my hand, and inadvertantly getting run over. Either I get a new phone - or become a spokesperson for HTC LOL

Won't you be upset when they send you a refirbed bolt?
