Root Gingerbread IS ROOTED

what's the deal with the report yesterday that wireless tether brought up a screen that said sign up for tethering through AT&T?? I saw that they mentioned it might be b/c this GB ROM was actually from the Atrix? I've been busy the last couple day's and haven't been able to keep up. I just read through all the posts in this thread and things seem to be going swimmingly so far, enough so that I will update later this afternoon. I'm interested in getting my quadrant scores up over 2000.

also, anyone used GoLauncher yet?? Steven I'm looking your way cause I know you love it as much as I do.

So far, all 13 screens are working with random transitions. The app drawer is also fine. Usually, when I first set up widget, when I reboot I find them moved. That is not the case this time. Everything works perfectly... better than on 2.2.1, for some reason.

just an update to prove ive got competence.... i used ubuntu to sbf, success upon first try, for some reason windows 7 just wasnt doing it for me.

so lets try this again, can someone point me to a reliable thread where i can get my hands on some gingerbread other than the ones ive provided above. im so close.... i can taste it.

So I am ok to install this from Apex 1.4.1, no need to SBF right? And I need to use D2 CM Recovery and no need to use ADB? Sorry for the questions, I've been away a bit and am catching up.

I tried going from Apex 1.4.1 to GPRooted but got error even though I wiped user/cache. I ended up SBF'ing then going to GBRooted. Worked fine after that. Used DroidXBootstrapper as indicated earlier, and it worked fine. Haven't tried recovery since upgrading, so don't really need D2Bootstrap.

So you may need to SBF coming from ApeX... but it doesn't hurt to try! Just have the files D/Led ahead of time just in case.

Weird error w/ Corporate Sync/Exchange here:

I get the encryption required notification and when I click "proceed" I get this error:

There is not enough memory to encrypt device data. Please remove old or unused application data to free up some memory and try again.

I tried rebooting but it keeps coming back. My emails are still coming in and my contacts have synced so it's not stopping me from getting the data.

Any ideas?

Seeing the Stuck on Bootloader thread, count me as another one who tried to go from Apex to GB and wound up having to RSD back to stock.

Finished RSDing, just rooted my X, trying to get to GB now. I wonder the folks who did go from Apex to GB with no problems...did we miss an Apex update somewhere?

Now that I think about it, I got stuck in a boot loop with Apex last week. First one and it came out of no where. I wiped data n cache and it fixed it. I wonder of that had something to do with it.

Corporate sync with SBS2008 (exchange 2007) working fine with no hitches during configuration or thereafter.

Thanks for the confirm. I came from Apex without SBF'ing so maybe that is the issue.

Did an SBF. Same problem.

i put on GB last night probably 30 minutes before there was word of root...honestly the only root apps i use is drocap and Titanium. Considering that next week i have to transfer back to my dreaded Blackberry 9650 due to international travel, i think i'm just going to ride out stock un rooted GB till the first of May when i return. I'm pretty sure by then there will many other options for me to do.

not at the moment. Maybe in the near future. But as of now you could flash the rooted GB over this but there is no custom recovery without root. So that's a catch 22.

Same issue, here. running a G5 mac and rsdlite won't run on it since I can't run windows and linux distros are a gigantic PITA for the G5.
Is there a way to install the rooted GB over the earlier release or do I need to borrow a computer to sbf?
If I go into the stock recovery (hold power and volume down when booting) will that allow me to flash over the other GB?
