Help Gingerbread keyboard issues - Emoticon button doesn't track

Wife's DX just got the update and now she's having a problem with the emoticon button in apps like gtalk/sms. Basically when you click and hold on it, it doesn't track it right at all. Its about 1/2" off from tracking right.

Anyone else heard of this problem and know of a fix?

Don't know if this is exactly that same thing you are talking about, but when I long-press the "." (period) character next to the "Go" button in the stock keyboard, you actually have to track down below, almost to the bottom on the screen, to get the entries in the lower/bottom row to be highlighted (and, of course, you have to track on the bottom row to get the entries in the top row to highlight).

Also, I miss the smiley emoticon button that was in the stock Froyo multi-touch keyboard.

I have the exact same problem. It selects the :-! when I long press the emoticon button. Annoying.

Keyboard is incredibly laggy too. Annoying as hell.

So I've been emailing moto tech support on this and today they send me a reply saying i can go to the market place to get another keyboard.. I'm in utter shock and can't believe this was said by them. FIX YOUR DAMN SOFTWARE, don't tell me to go to another vendor to get a fix.

I'm not a fan of this change at all. But I can see there ill advised thinking for the change. I think its just so you can see what's highlighted since they made this crappy keyboard a bit smaller... I still haven't seen what positive this gingerbread has brought to my phone.
