Gingerbread Update July 11th

Am I the only person who force check = fail? I get the update message fine, but whenever I hit OK, I immediately get the message DOWNLOAD FAILED. Have tried restarting the phone, starting the DL unmounted with the SD card, nothing works. :confused:

Do you have good 3G?
 
got my update this afternoon in Western PA. It took awhile for it to come down over 3G. So far so good. Phone is still snappy.
 
I'm curious about this 'Dock Mode' app. It shows in my application list, but, I cannot initiate any kind of dock mode with the clock or anything different that I can find.

You haven't looked hard enough. There are some good detail changes about battery and process control. Noises from weather apps, etc. are eye candy, but there are some good things happening behind the scenes.

Battery and process control? Ok, sounds like some bug fixes. Any functionality changes? I see none. Where is the new user interface? Where is the new keyboard I heard about?

Are we sure this is the highly anticipated "Gingerbread" and not some maintenance release?

It's version 2.3.3 so yes, it's Gingerbread. You are not seeing the new look and keyboard because Sense overrides this.

I get the same thing. I called VZW and they told me to keep trying. They said the update is tiered and they could not force it to my phone.
If it does not work in a couple days, I should go to store to have it flashed.
Sounded like a brush off to me.
I have not found a solution either.
 
In my case I had to get a new phone (via warranty) when my volume rocker stopped working properly. The new phone downloaded the update immediately. I know that's not really helpful.
 
Stupid question. If I down load the update, using the software update menu, does it download it then ask to install it or does it install by itself? Basically, I want to download it, but not 100% about installing it yet. So thinking just download it on the phone, and leave it there for now.

Once you start the process, you're committed. You can, however, check for the update and defer the download (check later, when you're ready). If you're DINC2 is basically in the mainstream (no rooting or non-Market apps), the update process is actually painless.
