I know there is a thread regarding this BUUUUUUUUUUT seeing updated were borked by VMU couldn't LG send out an update.zip file seeing the stock recovery has a apply update.zip option I know some carriers has there customers rooting to update how bad could it be?

All of the Optimus forums that I check on that got the update say the same thing.
You don't want any Gingerbread update from LG/carrier.

They'd likely have you go into a vm store where they can control the update process having techs do it for you.
VM doesn't have stores.
Sprint stores are franchises and deal only with Sprint.

You will more than likely never see an OV uypdate, especially this late in the game, and if they do, it will still not run as well as IHO CM roms do. Plus, if one was released, the IHO roms would adapt the best parts and become even better. Yes, the stock rom really is that bad.

If you want GB, root, rom and be merry. No point in waiting for a garbage rom from VM. For those who haven't rooted, you really have no idea how much better your phone would be even with a stock based rom. 25% more speed (50% with overclock) and 100% more battery is pretty much par for the course for any rom.

We have quite a few virgin mobile stores in my area.
