Interesting. I have had some trouble connecting occasionally in a place where I know there is a signal. I have found that putting it in airplane mode and then taking it out seems to fix it.

It was driving me crazy because it was happening every morning when I get to the parking lot for the commuter rail. They finally put in a pay-by-phone system, and I couldn't use it because I couldn't get online.

I'll have to give that a try - I've noticed lately that when I lose 3G (in the subway, not surprising) and then come back above ground, it doesn't pick it up again. I've been rebooting; in/out of airplane is certainly a lot easier! Hope it works. Will try Tuesday (no subways tomorrow, it's a holiday!):D

I just did a fresh install (with a factory reset) to 2.8, now that CM7 is finalized, and it's SO MUCH FASTER than 2.7 or any of the previous versions and less buggy.

I'm sure that most of it has to do with the factory reset I finally decided to do, since I've been installing over the top of previous versions every time. The difference is night and day! :)

My phone is still FLYING and I love it!

I've got the default performance settings except that I switched it to the smartass governor and 710 MHz.

What settings are you using?

I've got the default (factory reset) performance settings except that I switched it to the smartass governor and 710 MHz.

I had no idea this phone could run so smoothly! The factory reset made all the difference. I guess it had been gummed up from all the versions I'd been installing over each other since I originally switched from CELB Froyo.

I installed SwiftKet last night and installed the language pak but have'nt tried it yet. I also did a fresh install of 2.8 so I guess today willl be the test to see if that will solve a couple of issues I've been having.

I like SwiftKey by the way.:) Well the test failed. The only problem I've ever really had and still do is the dialer. It lag's so bad. When I click on a contact, it takes a couple seconds for it to dial the number. Then when I end the call, it is slow to change screens to show the call log. I ALSO HAD THE DEAD CALL BUG TODAY!!!!:eek: I'M PISSED!!!!:eek: I didn't have that problem before doing the fresh install.

I haven't had any of those issues since doing a fresh install of 2.8. In fact, there's less lag now than I've EVER had on my phone! :)

It's possible that Workshed removed the directory needed for the undead call fix from 2.8, because somebody else reported it on xda. Not much time right now for me, but on xda btfb0 had a thread with a flashable fix for undead calls. Try that.

If anyone knows is familiar with these XDA links and can post them, it would be very helpful ... I don't know my way around XDA that well.

TIA ...

2.9 is up!

By the way, how would I go about quickly reinstalling all my apps after a clean install?

There are probably as many answers as there are readers, but what I've been doing is AppList, plus LauncherPro backup to get the home screen restored. I still must fix some of the app icons, but it usually works pretty well.

Agreed ^^. Just flashed this ROM for the first time tonight. Good stuff. And here I thought I'd be with FroShedYo for the foreseeable future....

Very slick. But I made a poor job of it, wiping both Dalvik and Data, and it took a while to set up everything. I bought Titanium and tried it again, but came up short of the mark. Obviously, I've failed the IQ test.

Immediately after flashing gapps and rebooting, google or whatever went to the market and began reloading apps. I never had the chance to load and trigger Titanium. What did I miss?

GSB 2.9 is running beautifully, with only one glitch: an incoming call no longer rings on my Bluetooth headset, and touching the button on that headset no longer terminates the call. The audio, however, is fine. Is this a GSB thing?

To skip your apps from reinstalling automatically, you should skip the sign-in next time. It'll ask you to either create a google account, sign-in to your account, or skip. If you skip, the apps will not automatically restore.

I can't comment on the bluetooth stuff. I don't use one.

App List Backup looks promising (and it's free). Is that the one you meant?

I'm not having that problem with mine.

I think I'm going to try GSB on my wife's phone at this point. I love sense but I'm looking for even better performance... One thing she will miss, though, is the "quick contacts" Sense widget. Is there an equivalent app out there that is solid?

Launcher Pro has something similar.

My 2.9 installation is now flawless.
Battery life, Bluetooth, audio, all running perfectly, and here's a truth-stranger-than-fiction:

...it's at 787/528 on demand, smooth as silk.
Temp exceeded 43deg yesterday, but that was laying face down in the bright sun while I was 45 minutes into a phone call via Bluetooth. Forgivable.

Who was it that said this phone would be dead in four months?
