...installing GSB 1.5 now, will keep you updated on any bugs or issues (because I know I may be needing your help if I come across any).

not me... its just a bit laggy at times,but for the most part im finding it very smooth and quick.

im somewhat limited on what testing i can do since my eris isnt active at the moment,but i flashed 1.5 overtop of 1.4 and so far so good. for some reason i did have to flash the gapps over again to get market to work,wich took me through the "touch the android to begin" sequence again.

i cant say for sure that deleting the .android_secure file helped any,but it doesnt seem to have produced any negative side affects.

i think it might be an interesting test for those of you that have NOT reformatted your card or deleted this folder,and played with their 1.4 or 1.5 a couple days and are very familiar with your phones performance to make a backup and try deleting this file and see if your settings stick,and if there are any performance changes.

attetion doogald! should they simply delete the folder? or would it be a more valid test to delete the folder,then wipe and reflash?

The first time that you install a Froyo or GB ROM, if you enter Google account credentials in the setup program it will start downloading and installing all of your existing apps from the market in the background, in addition to calendar and contact syncing. While this is happening, the phone will seem slower.

Oh, also the ROM is overclocked by default to 587 MHz or something, since there is a small number of Erises that cannot handle 710 MHz. You can use your OC app of choice (SetCPU, CPU Boost Lite) to change this, or go into settings->CyanogenMod ROM settings->Performance and changing the CPU settings (and have them set on boot) there. As it says when you hit "Performance", you are supposed to restart the phone when you make changes in this category, though I would wait until that first sync is done.
 
Does it give you more space for apps? I was thinking it might because it uses CM7 with a smaller version of gapps.

Also, I'm under the impression that it improves battery life. Can anyone verify this?
 
Since updating I'm back to having LP take a second or two to load up my homescreen after leaving certain apps. It happened back in 1.3 then I checked the "Keep home in memory" in LP and CM settings which seemed to take care of the issue. Hmm... anybody else?

More space than what? The answer is no compared with ROMs that have cache2cache built in, like xtrSENSE, etc. The answer is I think yes compared with the Froyo ROMs, though it's probably about the same.

However, there is a beta script xtrCache2Cache for Froyo ROMs that also works with GB ROMs, so essentially it gives plenty of space if you flash that after flashing the ROM and gapps.

Better battery life compared with what? In my experience, all things being equal - ie, running the same apps with the same update schedule, same number of calls and texts, etc. - it has better battery life than the 2.1 ROMs that run the Zanfur kernel - xtrROM, xtrSENSE, etc. Compared with the Froyo ROMs that run Conap's CFS kernel, it's about the same.
 
As far as I know, there are only three - KaosGB, which is incomplete (non-working camera, the last that I looked) and Tazz are the other two. I haven't tried Tazz myself; perhaps it is better.

I have the same issue. Tried to tweak the settings but it still happens. Also had an issue with the camera today. Luckily had another phone with a camera to take the pics. None of the pics saved and had the black/white issue when phone went to sleep. After coming from Kaos, I am used to my camera being unstable at times. lol
 
I can tell you this is the first rom where the 3d gallery works perfectly, has no lag, and angry birds is actually playable. I would highly recommend giving it a shot. I can't wait to see what other cool stuff they will be adding.

at this point i believe sheds rom is maybe a little more stable. tazz is also a good developer and im sure his version will be up to par when finished.

tazz's vanilla froyo rom had some sense-like icons and such,but i dont know how this one will end up.

ive tried them both,and other than the gapps/bootloop issue with tazzs rom,i really couldnt tell them apart.

This happened when I first installed 1.2 but I did the same - keep in memory for both - plus I changed compcache to default/18mb in CyanogenMod settings->Performance. And, of course, restarted.

I've also dropped a widget - I think that helps.
 
1) How do I change the keyboard in GSB 1.6? I don't care for the one that comes with the rom and I can't figure it out.

2) Why don't I have any room left on my internal memory already? I only downloaded like 3 apps and I'm out of room??

You can download them from the market. I've REALLY been impressed with SwiftKey. They will have instructions.

Basically, once they are installed, you long press on the field where you type and select "Input method." That will allow you to select the one you want.

Before it will show up there, you may have to go into your main settings and enable the new keyboard under Language & keyboard.

Well, I don't have much loaded on it yet but I'm impressed with how smooth and snappy it is so far.

Speaking of which, I flashed XTR's cache2cache app but I'm worried I might run out of space if I leave the installation location on automatic while installing all my apps.

Am I correct in understanding that, if I change installation location to External, I would get the most possible space for apps? (And do I need to check the "Allow application moving" box?

I tend to load up on them and eventually find my phone slowing down once I get down to less than about 30MB.
 
I did a nand backup and flashed 1.6 over 1.5 and seems to be working fine.

Edit: I tried flashing over without reflashing gapps but no go.:( Also I didn't do a wipe either.:eek: See how that goes.:)
 
bobcat i had that same prollem. might as well have wiped if we have to flash gapps again and reset everything up :(

when i flash the new nightly on my droid i wipe cache and flash overtop without flashing gapps and my phone is still set up the way it was prior. i was hoping it would be the case here too,but guess not.

i just saw that honeycomb was running on the desire z and ports have made it to the evo and incredible. wonder how long till someone attempts that for the lil ol eris :p
