Root GingerShedBread/GSB

I have to reboot mine at least once a day because it'll get laggy.

Mine absolutely refused to make a phone call yesterday when I really needed to. That can be very frustrating. I guess that's why I decided to switch things up and try something new. I hope I won't fill the phone up too quickly and slow it down again. I guess I can always reset it and start again. Maybe I'll make a nand right now since the phone is in a good place.

That's something I don't miss! Of course, this forum is always super laggy when I come here on my phone. I assume others have the same experience. Anyone know of a workaround?

are you on wifi or 3g? ive never noticed bein laggy, but when i come here on my eris its always on wifi. earlier today i was typing a response on my incredible. i was on 3g and the forum itself scrolled fine and loaded fast, but typing that response was super laggy. hrrmmm

This afternoon, I took some nice pictures of my kids at the local dinosaur museum. When we got home and went to look at the pictures, some of them were missing!

Fortunately, they reappeared after I rebooted the phone. I was pretty upset until that point. I hope they're aware of that bug and are working to fix it. I use the built-in camera too often to have the pictures disappearing on me!

why is froyo+ auto app installing so awful? *shakes fist* seriously, I haven't had half these apps installed in almost a year and it absolutely insists on downloading and installing them all at the same time, resuling in horrible stability issues for hours until it finally figures out how to install them all.

I'm only letting it go this time because when i tried to cancel out of it my phone became very unhappy with me and I had to wipe and reflash.

edit: just as I thought, ran out of space, force closed and reboot looped halfway through. this is a beautiful rom and I'm really trying to make it work and not have to reflash my xtr nand, but this happens everytime I try froyo or higher.

edit edit: there has *got* to be a way to override the deault screen timeout. CM settings won't do it, and neither will widgetlocker root override. 30 seconds, 1 minutes, it doesn't matter my screen times out in <5s regardless.

It's typing the response that lags, either way.

I've found that turning off the letter popups in the CM settings improves the keyboard response greatly. its not much of an issue since the new keyboard's prediction/correction is even better than the htc_ime keyboard.

i cant seem to find this setting :o where is it exactly?

Is there any way to disable it in SwiftKey?

Not sure, but that is one of Swiftkey's major selling points - the ability to quickly predict what you are typing, and learn the words that you often use as you type more.

I've actually started using the standard GB keyboard lately and it is working quite well for me.

I'm running SwiftKey at a recorded increase of nearly 50% efficiency. And I thought Swype was fast!

The out of space error is a common problem with this and other cm7 ROMs. You aren't really out of space, there is just something that isn't quite worked out of the build yet. I seem to remember reading somewhere that you can stop the apps from auto installing by not signing into your google account during the setup. Choose to sign in later, then go to the market and enter your information and sign in. Then you should find all of your apps listed under my apps, but they shouldn't begin to install until you tell each app to do so.

yeah that does work, but at least for me its pretty glitchy and had trouble syncing afterwards.

if there were even some basic "which apps do you want to restore" functionality or if google synced app data as well it might actually be useful...

A little off topic; but, I know that Hulu will soon be available for Froyo 2.2? I'm currently using Gingerbread, does the eris's lack of flash 10.1 preclude us from using Hulu?

unfortunately, that would be my guess. we would need a special version that doesnt work via flash, and i doubt anyones going to put that much effort into it :(
