Paleodust,

Got home last night and installed "Total Recall". This one ROCKS. There's tons of options and it does two-way recording and is clear as a bell. It say's it don't work on all phones but the Eris is one that does. Look it up in the Market and let me know what you think. PM me if you want.

This sounds very interesting. I'm going to look into it. Especially with March Madness coming up, my bookie is getting old and also sometimes "forgets" to write down wagers that I have WON!! LOL
J/K, gambling is illegal and I do not condone nor participate in said activities!!

Yeah, I'll have to check that out. Thanks!

It's hard to imagine another in-phone digital recorder being as good as TapeMachine but, like I said, it has it's limitations when it comes to recording both sides of a phone call.

I've used it several times already and it records both ways.

By the way, I've landed on an even better performance profile. Ironically, it's one many of us have used in the past but it's been working very smoothly in 2.1.

CPU min 245 MHz
CPU max 710 MHz
smartass
Compcache 18%
VM Heapsize 24 MB

The nice thing about it is that it runs big programs more smoothly than the other settings I shared earlier. The key seems to be setting compcache to 18%. I don't know why it is disabled now by default. Disabling it really seems to slow things down!

How do I try these settings/where do I go to set them up?? Sorry, I don't know much about this background stuff yet!

okay, gsb2.1 is pretty fast with the vm 16 and 18% compcache, but you're out of your mind if you think its as fast as plain xtr. theres just no comparison, except for the fact that the gb keyboard owns.

me too. i then promptly came home and ordered it :D

I'm sorry for your loss. of course, by the time the bionic comes out..... :(

Paleodust,

Thought I'd try your new settings. I don't have an option for 240mhz unless I use Setcpu. So I'll keep it at 245mhz and I changed VM to 24 also I use JIT. Do you?

what loss? ive still got my lil buddy the eris, and not having the bionic and its encrypted bootlooder is certainly not a loss! especially since the snapdragon is a lil faster, and the bionics dual cores IMO are more of a gimmic right now than anything... untill more phones have them and android becomes optimized to utilize them.

guys, i think im starting to smooth out some after a few days :D i still get a touch of lag when starting to scroll, and it takes a second for the weather widget to open, but its definately better than it was right at first.

I was talking to my Verizon Business Rep yesterday about maybe waiting for a dual core. I used to be a moto guy until I got my eris now I'm partial to htc. I was talking to him about what the benifits were other than playing games which I'm not into. So I will probaly pass up the dual core unless htc comes out with one.

VM 24 wasn't working for me so went back to 16. ;)

16 runs better but a couple apps I use seem to require more memory to run properly: Angry Birds and Opera Mobile.

Since you're not into games, 16 is probably a better place for you. I would stay there myself if it weren't for those two apps. In fact, if I could find a way to make them run well at 16, I definitely would stay there!
