Root Gingervillian 2.0 is out

So I just upgraded to 2.0, and I too am having issues with the notification bar. The thing is, I have it set to open with a swipe downwards so this sounds different to the normal problem. Does anyone else have this?

what are your notification bar issues exactly please?

Oh My Google, I just "got" your name... :(

Yeah I know, sorry about the name, it's a character in a book.

The issue is the damn thing won't appear. I've just realised my post wasn't very clear. I have Go Launcher set up to hide the status bar, and then to bring the notifications up when swiping down on the screen. When I swipe down it sort of unhides the status bar but doesn't carry on if that makes sense. It was working a minute ago, and now it doesn't work again - pretty intermittent.

Ah right. Using LPP myself. I have swipe on an icon. It only shows status bar and then manual drag to show notifications, but that is by design.

Sorry

You mean the status bar appears briefly then slides straight up again? And this is with "glide down action" set to "show notification"?

If so, I can confirm this (I use LP normally, but have a copy of Go Launcher, so easy to test). It looks quite similar to the problem people see when setting the home button in LP to show notifications. If so, since the latest CM7 nightly fixed that, there's good reason to hope it will fix this too (the CM7 nightly thread referred to notification problems with ADW, so I expect there's a common cause here).

Do you need a step-ladder to reach the top of the screen? ;)

(Apologies to anyone who doesn't know the books in question!).

Ah c'mon, with the swipes, docks and swipepad you can basically access all you need from one minimalistic screen

I'm a poke and prod kinda guy rather than swipe ;)

The problem with Swipe to show notifications on launchers with Gingervillian is you swipe and the status bar appears.
Then the notification bar drops down from that a tiny bit then sort of bounces back up to the status bar.
It happens at about the same height as the top of widgets on screen (so top of the first row of icons at the top)
but it's not caused by icons or widgets because it still happens on an empty screen.
It doesn't happen all the time but often enough to be really annoying.

I thought that was with home button on launcher pro?

I swipe to show status in launcherpro and definitely do not have that issue

Swipe just shows status then notifications is manual

No this is when you swipe to show notifications (which includes status bar.)
It may also affect using the home button (or any other button) to show notifications (not tried it with buttons.)
I guess the problem is it not allowing you to automatically show notifications without manually pulling them down from the status bar.

Like you said showing the Status bar then manually pulling down notifications works fine.

I don't know if this is a GB thing or whether it's only GV or all AOSP ROM's so hopefully someone can help me. How can i change the god awful vibration alert for when someone is ringing me? I don't want to disable it completely as it is useful but it just sounds like my phone is wincing in pain every time it rings. It's like a 2-3 second vibration that sounds like it kind of dies towards the end and is extremely irritating.

Is there anyway to change it? perhaps even manually customise it a la handcent/go sms alert? Any help is much appreciated and will almost save the life of an innocent Desire from being thrown across the room next time it rings on my desk :)

Was running 1.6 still, decided to flash this. Got stuck in a bootloop, pulled the battery and after that phone was messed up. I'm restoring as we speak.

Might try again later, not wanting to do a full reset because there are so many apps I would have to redownload.

There should be an option in settings to disable vibration.

Bit confused, you mention that it vibrates when ringing, but you also mention Handcent/ goSMS.
Apps have their own vibrate settings generally so stopping vibrate in messaging app won't affect vibrate on calls.

Just had a look in LeeDroid Gingerbread and there is only a setting for turning vibrate on or off for calls and notifications not separate.

Although I can enable/disable vibrate separately for texts in Hancent and emails in Gmail etc.

I meant I want to be able to change the vibrate pattern for phone calls the same way you can with handcent and go sms

Ah right - no there is only one vibrate setting with the ROM, other dialler apps etc might give more options but I use the Sense Dialler anyway.

*disclaimer - not running GV but pretty sure it didn't support different vibrate.*

How is it?

I'm giving Oxygen a go instead because I heard it has amazing battery life. So far so good. By now my phone would be on 18% with GV, it has been an average day with regards to usage so I'm pretty sure of that. Atm I have 55% battery remaining.

13 hours 50 mins off charge
1 hour 16 mins display on
53 minutes of spotify
40 mins web browsing (3G)
30 mins web/market/etc browsing (WiFi)
10 mins angry birds
20+ texts
1 short phone call

Hmm, there must be a hidden file/setting somewhere which dictates how long it should vibrate for though?

Someone must have managed to alter this?

Might be the wrong thread ;)
But very impressive stats!
