Glad you got the S4

I heard that the HTC One was going to be on Verizon, and may have waited for that one. Decided to jump in the S4 pool and don't really want any others now.

The phone I was most hoping for was a Droid 5. Basically, something with the specs of an S4 but the keyboard of the Droid 3. I gave up on waiting for a modern keyboard-equipped phone and "settled" for the SGS4. I like it and don't miss the physical keyboard too much yet.

I'm happy with mine, after coming from a Droid Razr that I had to return 3 times. There are a couple of quirks with the phone but doesn't all phones have a couple.

Galaxy Nexus. Battled with that one for over a year until it went for a swim. The S4 is a big improvement for me.

I came from the HTC Incredible, so I was due! There are still a few things i liked about Sense better, but overall am quite happy with my S4

I came from the s3, and am very happy. I definitely think it is the best phone available, but I do think every phone out has problems. The problems I have with the s4 can be easily fixed with ROMs, so I wouldnt trade my phone for any phone that is our or that has been announced.

I came from the Atrix 4G. I love my S4. The only thing that I would change is having it to be a mass storage device instead of a media device, when connected to a computer using the USB port. (I know this is a Samsung thing.)

how does the battery life compare?

I can't give you anything specific about usual battery life, because it spends most of its days being charged on a desk dock. (And since I lost unlimited data with VZW when I got the new phone, I'm more careful to put WiFi on with the S4 than I was with the RAZR MAXX. So it really wouldn't be a fair comparison anyway.)

But when I force a lot out of it (like navigating on a two hour car trip while I'm on a call), neither the RAZR MAXX nor the S4 could handle the trip out and back -- but at least with the S4, I can just swap in the backup battery.

I come from the HTC Incredible (first day released), then iPhone 4s (that was an experience), back home to the S4 and Android 4.2.2.
HOME SWEET HOME!!! I like the Android OS and this phone so much better!!

I like the speed, power, and the display, but really dislike not having any widgets if I use a pin or pattern. I jailbroke the iPhone because of that very reason and now find out I may have to root this one.

All I really want is a flashlight on the lock screen... is that too much to ask for?

This is android - if it isn't there out of the box, somebody has probably written an app for it

Try Widgetlocker, for example.

Well, having had the S4 for all of one day I can say I am very happy with it.

I came over from the Bionic, as you well may know Sir Eagle It was a great phone, still is a great device, but for some reason Verizon was kind to give me an upgrade 6 months early. I was almost considering the G2 from LG to see how that looked and felt when it comes out, but it has no swappable battery and that is a must. That left only the S4 and the Note, and the Note is way to big for me personally.

Fortunately this phone seems wonderful so far. I have read many complaints about their custom software when doing research on the phone, but to be honest, I am liking most of it.

Happy chap here. Falling in love with mobile phone all over again. Samsung need to spend more money on quality control though, this is my 4th S4 and still have some issues with the sAMOLED

If the HTC one had a removable battery and SD Card I would have bought it since I prefer HTC software.

I'm ambivalent about the S4. Great hardware. Crummy software. And most of the "smart" feature don't work or are very inconsistent. However, rooting really improves this phone as many of the software inadequacies are fixable. The Nottach Xposed Mod has been a great help in improving the custom-ability of the software.

I mainly agree, although I would say it would have made the choice a lot harder, not that I would have gone with the HTC.

What might have pushed it the HTC's direction is that I don't usually buy products that are as popular as the S4. I feel sort of uncomfortable having such a common phone.
