Help Gmail vs googlemail?

funkylogik

share the love peeps ;)
Why is it that some sites require one or the other to login yet @gmail.com always works when sending an email?
Pisses me off lol (rant)

Googlemail is a legacy thing, because for a few years Google couldn't call it Gmail in certain countries due to trademark issues. In the UK it was originally Googlemail, and then eventually Gmail became available for those users. Anything that's sent to @googlemail will go to @gmail, and vice-versa. Some people might have preexisting logins and usernames as Googlemail

Funky, you're in the UK, now did you used to call it Top Cat or Boss Cat? I assume you're old enough. :D

"Whose intellectual close friends get to call him T.C. " :D

....as it was called by the BBC in the 1970s.

...such is the fun of trademark rights in the UK.
