Go Launcher - Hottest home launcher

Do any of you guys have the GO Messanger app...i like it and was using it the other day....but had an issue come up...

I was on a phone call and during my phone call, i received a text message which promptly ended my phone call...

any idea what happened? Has this happened to anyone else?

You can use a different photo on each screen. I think there is a setting for a blank screen in any color (there's a "background color" selection). You can just download wallpaper pix to you picture folder and use any picture, a blank picture too. I have a black background on one of my screens that's full of buttons and contact dialers:

Does the image have to be a photo or can you use a different color background?

Thanks for sharing. I also love Simple Text.

I've been using GO for 4-5 months. Only problem I've ever had is shortcut icons changing to a default android icon after a GO update. That doesn't seem to be happening anymore (but I still do a GO backup when I change anything, so it can be restored if something is lost). I find the app drawer very smooth and fast, lots of cool transitions while swiping. I love the app killing drawer (I lock most system apps, but kill anything that "just opens" that I don't use). It's had the ability to change icons for quite a while. I just download icons to my picture library (Quickpic), and just replace GO icons with custom pictures (like dock ones below). Text shortcuts are using Minimalistic Text. Ability to hide notification bar is also nice.

I wish they had the option to customize the layout in landscape mode (and have it not affect the portrait layout). I have a 5x4 grid which works well with my widgets and icons normally but looks pretty average when it's on it's side in the charger. it would be great if I could rearrange things a bit, maybe choose a different grid size.

I switched from LauncherPro to GO Launcher because so much of the features of LauncherPro (such as resizing widgets) were free for GO, but the main reason I switched was because whenever I scrolled through the App Drawer on LauncherPro, if I tried to stop the scroll midway through by pressing the screen, it would launch the app my finger pressed. For this one, it stops scrolling and launches the app only if I press the app while the screen is stationary. Also, everything is smooth as silk for me (except the act of zooming out to see all the homescreens, but no deal breaker since I never use that feature). Overall, I'm very satisfied. It's smooth, looks nice, and has a lot of features all for free.

Hi there! I love Go Launcher - but I think I did something in the Menu/Operational Settings and I can't figure out how to get it back.

I was experimenting with the look of my home screen to see if I wanted to see the notification bar at the top. I changed the Menu/Operational Settings Swipe Down and Up gestures. After seeing the home screen without the notification bar, I decided that I wanted to bar back - but I can not for the life of me figure out what the swipe settings should be.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Should be Operation settings, Glide Down Action. Try changing it and the "Exit Go Launcher" Then hit Home and select GO, and see if it changes.

Thanks tcat007 for your help! That was it. Operation Settings/Slide Down set to show/hide notification. Then exit Go Launcher and launch again. I didn't exit and that's where the issue was.

Thanks again!

I would really like this launcher, except that as far as I can tell there's no way to add an app directly to an existing folder. Which means that if one of my home screens is full, but contains a folder that I want to put an app in I can't easily do that.

Ah, so it's not just me. Thought I must be doing something wrong. Huge annoyance. :(

hi all,
GO EX is looking very good these days

one thing that i miss though is the ability to have an app folder sub folder in the dock as a shortcut -
ADW can do this, and it looks like GO is almost there with the new drag to dock feature - but i cant get it to accept a folder in the dock :(

has anyone managed to do this ?

thanks
dan

Very easy to do if you have a folder organizer. I use Auto App Organizer, it's great for sorting apps, and has nice icons. The long click "shortcut" option will make a link to any AAO folder. The 4 on the right are AAO folders:

is there a setting that will keep Auto app in memory?
I find it often has to redraw the drawer screen when I
launch it
cheers

Check under menu/preferences/advanced config/prevent force close

This will prevent that the Android system closes the Launcher when it is in the background, and it has to restart when you go back to home.

Check out the newest beta available on thier site, it introduced also a sort of 3D scrolling in the app drawer like in Launcher Pro.

hi claus
thanks for the info. I don't have preferences option, just settings.
and can't see advance option. sorry.

I will check out the beta. thanks

Settings is the Android system settings, look on the side of that, the Launcher preferences shoud be there.

I've been using Go Launcher for a long time now but, lately I've been having a lot of trouble adding widgets. Even if I am trying to add a 1x1 widget to an empty screen - it jumps to my home screen and tells me there is "no more room"...or sometimes just does nothing at all.
Anyone else having this problem? Any help would be great!

hi Steve.
interesting. I've had this too recently.
there was a blank item on the screen
I deleted it and then was ok to add new widget.
new bug I guess
cheers

I've installed yesterday all GO (GO Launcher, GO Contacts, etc) free apps. As for now, it looks like I have a new, more powerful handset (and my pretty lame P350 looks like an Ivy League guy!). I'll give some more probing at it and, if all keeps working this good, I'll purchase some of their paid stuff. Great work, guys, really loved it.
