Root goldcard query

planing on creating a goldcard with the shipped sd card. I've currently got a 16gb in the phone, with all my music/videos and some apps etc...

If I remove the 16gb, create the goldcard on the 2gb (I think that is what my desire shipped with), will all the apps/widgets/shortcuts still work when I put the 16gb back in?

Yea. Although why not make the 16GB the gold card?

Could do but don't want to wipe all the data off it, just to copy it back.

Yeah its a chore, but its only once. And once a gold card, always a goldcard.

It might just be one day that you need a goldcard and its somewhere else.

So if I just plug my 16gb into a PC, copy the whole lot to a directory on the PC, is this sufficient to just copy back after it is a goldcard? Or is there more too it?

Well, ensure that windows is set up to view hidden folders too, but yeah thats it.

Well... Just created a gold card. checked it and it had the 2 files on it that it was supposed to, but it also had a yahoo folder and an android folder -wtf did they come from???

I'll try again tomorrow, kids/wife in now so too distracting lol!

Android OS and app folders will auto create

Is that Ok then? The guide just said the 2 files only.

Yeah, as you use your phone, more folders will appear. just copy your stuff back and its fine.

Got a 4gb class 4 goldcard, and my original 4gb class 2 card with all my Desire data on it.

If I copy the entire contents of the original card to PC, partition the gold card using ROM Manager and copy everything from my PC to the goldcard, should everything behave as if I were still using the original SD?
