Help Good LED Notification Light Control App?

IrishPilot

Newbie
One of the nice things I had with my BB was an app that allowed you to modify the length, frequency, and color of your LED light notifications for when you had missed calls, emails, etc. That way you didnt have to bring the screen alive to know if you didnt hear the audible notification.

The LED on the EVO seems to be pretty short and sometimes infrequent. I seem to keep bringing the screen alive to find I have missed emails etc. but the LED wasnt flashing at all.

Has anyone found a good App that does this? My searching really hasnt yielded any results.

As far as I know, there is only one app that can do this and it actually controls the WiMax LED. It used to require root but no longer does. It has a setting for SMS and MMS. The app is called WiMax Notifier and it can be downloaded here: xda-developers - View Single Post - [App Project][Update 09/06/10] WiMAX Message Notifier

I'll add that alot of app devs are slowly adding this into specific apps but the above does give you the most control.

I know I have seen customization settings of the led in apps like handcent

Cool, works nicely. The Right LED doesn't seem to be as bright though. Oh well, small thing.

Any expected impact on battery life??

Cool app!

LEDs use next to no power. no worries there.

Even with the app (I'm assuming) constantly in the background?

BTW it was working fine yesterday, but now not at all....LED only comes on in testing :(

EDIT: It is flashing right when a message comes, but doesn't subsequently doesn't repeat the way the left side LED does. I'm sure it was last night though...maybe I changed something...

Also, can someone explain what the settings START DELAY and UPDATE PERIOD are about?? The descriptions in the app leave me a bit puzzled, and I have a feeling that's where the problem is.

Thanks!

apps in background use no battery UNLESS they are using radio/data as part of a sync or download.
