Good Overclock app

I can't even get mine to 768. I used to be able to, but apparently my phone is showing it's age...

Yeah, just remember, not every Sprint HTC Hero is created equally. Some respond to overclocking better than others. :)

Some people can reach the 768 MHz CPU speed with stability, while others can only hit 710 MHz. Either way, a little speed boost is nice. ;)

Yep, I thought mine would be crapping out by now, but still solid at 768

went and played with a shift today, wow am I impressed! I think it is faster than the evo... And the size is perfect for me. I will prob be ordering one from wirefly next week...

Yep, me too. Wish I saw more developers jump on board, not much going on with a permanent root. But I do like the phone in general.

I may just hold off until Feb 7 with Sprint's big announcement, if nothing in the phone department, I'll probably will join you:cool:

I didn't wait for the Shift, because I didn't want a hardware KB. Very happy with my decision (EVO). The size grows on you. (Pun intended) ;) It is not too big, and wife's Hero seems too small now. I was one who was very against both the big size and the $10/mo... Guess I am more flexible that I thought. Although my kids never thought so! :D

no shift for me.....slide out keyboard = DealBreaker...
Ill get it for my wife though.

I could care less about the keyboard, you almost need a hammer and chisel just to get the keyboard out:p

The insides of the Shift are 2nd gen, so.......

Another over clock app is Setcpu. Its a small fee at the market, I think $1.99, or free at xda, if you are resigistered (also free) there.

Yeah, I think I may wait to hear the announcement too, but I do agree about the keyboard. I didn't think I'd like it, but it actually is really nice. AND the phone feels as solid as any piece of high tech hardware I can ever remember using. Super nice build quality, and perfect size. The devs will be on it soon enough, it's only a couple weeks old...

/Hijack, (and sorry) ;)

Awesome. I don't spend much time at XDA, they are a little to techy for my everyday enjoyment. I will head over and see, now, though. :)

If I'm running the aospCMod GB 2.3.2 ROM, do I need a separate/custom kernel in order to run SetCPU? Or is it built into the ROM?

Thanks in advance.

I am running the 1/26 verion of gingerbread. I installed setcpu and it was already overclocked to max 748 and min was 576000 i think. Thats why some people had to install the 691 kernal from deca just to run gingerbread, because AOSP overclocked it already to 748 and some phone couldnt handle it.
