Goodbye Droid back to the iPhone

Only to get a rise out of us. Funny thing is most of us here had iphones for many years so there's nothing new this guy is telling us. To each his own, but when you've had both and can't decide on one...maybe there's a OCD conflict here?

I'm going back to the iphone 3gs as well, why? Because the OP is going back. I'm so glad he took the time to inform us about how crappy the droid is. I'm going to take this crappy droid back tomorrow and buy the iphone 3gs right after!

Thanks OP for letting us know, what would have I done if you did not post! Now let's hold hands and go join the iphone forums and let's stop posting in this thread. LOL!

And what are you talking about getting an iPhone 4.0 for free? That's very unlikely, so you may want to re-check the details of whatever you're referring to, if that's what's motivating you to buy the 3GS now. It may save you some money 6 months down the road.
I had an iPhone for a long time. They've always given iPhone users the software upgrade for free. iPod Touch users are the ones that had to pay for 3.0.

But if I know Apple, 4.0 will be optimized for the new iPhone they release this summer. Running 3.0 on a 3G was awful (It was clearly meant for the 3GS), and it might be the same with 4.0 on the 3GS. That's what really aggravated me about the iPhone; Apple only really cares about the people that run out and buy the new stuff right away.

you guys are just a bit too nerdy for me. 3.0 runs just fine on the 3g and i was talking about the 4.0 software update obviously and it will be free.

Lol, duh, I wasn't even thinking about the software. Thought you were talking about the 4th gen iPhone, lol.

Yeah, it's bogus how they charge the Touch users like $10. Good think I know ways to circumvent that, haha.

Anyways, have fun with the iPhone and I'll have fun with my Droid.

I forcibly payed for the first 3 updates on my Touch before I ditched the POS.

Heh, I'm still not really sure what I got for the last 10$ update. I guess I'm a sad sucker for the promise of better gadgetry...

Anyhow my 'upgrade my 1G ipod touch' budget was alloted until late last year, when it turned out that their upgraded model was pretty much pointless. Happily, said budget turned into my 'upgrade my dumbphone to the droid' fund. I wiped the Touch, gave it to my husband and haven't glanced back.

Thanks, Apple, for releasing a disappointing product and sending me into the arms of android! :D

Maybe he thought this was Twitter; his first clue should have been when he eclipsed 140 characters.

But seriously, if you couldn't get 3G service from Verizon in your area, why buy the Eris or Droid in the first place?

Maybe because he believed the map? The map says I get 3g at my house too. I get edge only, even standing outside. Inside I don't even get that.

If I lived in one of those rare spots in the US where AT&T had 3G and Veizon didn't, I would stay with an iphone too. But after two years of dropped calls with AT&T there was no way I was going to tolerate them any longer. I also go camping throughout Utah, and Verizon is just much better. Furthermore, I actually like my Droid better than I liked the iphone. To each his own.

Same here. The Verizon rep reviewed the coverage map with me when I went in... looked phenomenal at the time.

i didnt post any hate though. im disappointed that the droid wasnt as good as i expected it to be. but yeah if the boondocks is one hour outside of Dallas/Fort Worth metro area then yeah I guess Im in the middle of nowhere lol
An hour out of the city? I live in this area. If you go an hour out of Dallas in any direction, it's the boonies. There is going to be spotty cell coverage cause guess what, no one lives there. It doesn't matter what phone you get when you can't get a signal. Here's a tip: move to the metroplex and join civilization. That way you would be able to enjoy your iphone.

I love my Droid, others love their iPhones. It is nice to have choices.

Very true. Competition and choices are good for all of us.

I've read some posters who are concerned about phones coming out that might be better than the Droid. I certainly hope better phones come out! I want to see better Android, Apple, Rim and Palm phones. Keep raising the bar. Plus, the larger the Android base the better the apps.

IMO the Droid is the best phone currently out there, but no one can argue it can't be improved.

Well, currently the nexus one is the next step up from Android from a hardware/software standpoint. But I too agree that where you live affects your choice of phone as well as the quality of the phone itself.

I currently have a samsung moment, and a mytouch 3g. Several of my friends have iPhones, and several more have the Droid as well as other Android phones.

Make the most out of your phone, regardless of carrier. Because you have to be happy with it... be it an apple product or a google one. Just know what you are getting into.

Honestly, it is sad that there are so many iPhone/Apple trolls that when anyone makes a positive comment regarding the iPhone, everyone calls them a troll.

Honestly, I cannot stand iPhone fan boys, but if this user says Verizon doesn't get service in his area, I don't blame him for switching. Actually, that is the reason I don't use AT&T. Their coverage in my area is spotty. I haven't even given AT&T a chance because most of my friends that have iPhones constantly complain about dropped calls. If Verizon was the same way, I wouldn't be on Verizon. There is nothing this user said that, at least to me, resembles trolling. I mean yeah, it is kind of weird that someone came here just to post this, but at least he gave the eris and droid a chance.

It is one thing if someone says the interface isn't easy to use after only playing with it for 10 minutes, but complaining about bad Verizon coverage is a valid argument. There is nothing the user can do to fix this. For example, if you think the UI on the phone is bad, you can at least sit down and try to figure it out, read websites, look at the manual, etc. You can't do any of these things to fix bad coverage.

thanks for a good rational comment. i definitely dont hate or dislike android. i even paid a deposit to try out verizon whereas at&t never charged me one and still doesnt. i just think android is still behind where the iphone is and that coupled with the lack of 3g in my current area and as i mentioned the horrible camera app on the motorola i cant get myself stuck in a 2 year contract with a phone im not completely happy with.

if it wasnt for the contract issue i'd likely come back and try the eris out again after it gets a 2.1 update and i move back to the city where i know converage is better. but for 3 years i've been very happy with the iphone progress and since the way the US cellular system works is backwards and we buy phones locked to carriers with contracts i'll end up sticking with the iphone a while longer it looks like.

and if anyone wonders in my experience with the two, the eris is a much better phone and experience than the motorola with the exception of having an older version of android that causes horrible battery life.

Nooooo! Say it isnt so!
