Goodbye Droid back to the iPhone

Wow, when I get my Droid in Feb, I am going to go to VZW's forums and make half a dozen posts telling them that I am dumping my enV Touch and getting a Droid. I am sure they will care... not.

I guess some of us just aren't aware of our own insignificance.

well, fwiw, everytime I use my former iphone as a ipod touch, I miss the iphone interface and ease of use. I have had the droid for 2 months now because AT+T coverage in my area sux, but I will go back to iphone when/if it shows up on verizon.

Sometimes the area you live in is everything. I was on Sprint before I got the Droid on Verizon. When traveling, I just expected to be without a signal in many areas. I didn't get upset because it was expected. If I called my husband when he was in his office, I expected that he would have to call me back because he would see that he was getting a call from me but the signal was no good so he would call me back once he moved to an area where he had reception.

On my recent trip, there was an area south of Louisville all the way down to the Tennessee border where I had no signal on Verizon. If someone lives there, they would HATE the Droid and Verizon. Not worth it. The rest of the trip all the way through Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana, the signal was outstanding!! Much better than my old Sprint phone. So you have to go with what works for you on the network that works in your area. Pleasant phoning!

ETA: And Alabama. I forgot about them. Alabama was good too!

I agree with you on Kentucky. I think it was about 10 miles south of Louisville on I-65 to Tennessee is not very good for Verizon. I tried to use the Droid as my GPS but had no 3g so that didn't work. Other than that it was great in Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Alabama.

There's a chunk of 75 in TN that has no Verizon signal as well. My wife's iPhone had no signal either, so it's not just Verizon though.

I just went through the "home screens" thread. Wow. I'm just starting to tap into my Droid customizations. Pretty cool after 2 years of boring iphone icons.

It's not so much the iphone hating trolls but you did post this on a Droid forum so what would you expect? Most Droid owners are VERY happy with their purchase. A very small percentage are not. You won't get much love posting hate on a Droid forum. You would have more success on an iphone forum. But like I said earlier, I feel your pain. It's not the phone's fault. There is a small area of the country where Verizon does not reach. I wouldn't like the droid if I lived in the boondocks either.
agreed! he should be on steve job forum.iphone users are not, not going to get any sympathy here and most of the time iphone bashing!:o

Very true. Competition and choices are good for all of us.

I've read some posters who are concerned about phones coming out that might be better than the Droid. I certainly hope better phones come out! I want to see better Android, Apple, Rim and Palm phones. Keep raising the bar. Plus, the larger the Android base the better the apps.

IMO the Droid is the best phone currently out there, but no one can argue it can't be improved.

rrflanders FTW.

Whatever floats your boat. To use the same wording, the iPhone is not - and has never been - where I need it to be. To each his own.

Apple only really cares about the people that run out and buy the new stuff right away.

BINGO! Ive used apple forever and I love their PCs, but when anything stops working as it should for whatever reason,
the only thing the "genius's" have to say is "Have you seen the new iPhone/iPod?" FU man, replace my battery, I dont want to buy another.
That burned me and I only buy the PCs from then on. Apples culture is not what it used to be.
Back to the DROID, I love it and as it evolves Ill love it even more!

I agree that the iPhone is a better phone, but I think the Nexus One will be a big step up for Android. It's really all about where you live and which service is better. I have 3g 100% of the time on Verizon whereas I would have it about 30% of the time for ATT. I think Apple makes great products and I am looking forward to their Tablet announcement later this month!

Didnt I see this b4, maybe we should create a separate thread for people who want to say good bye.

Pass this along to anyone looking to switch........if you want help or want to know if the droid have or will have a feature post the ?
I am not a fanboy so i don't care what ya do with your money. If you find a phone that features best match what you use most buy it, but no need to start a thread about "the droid don't do this, won't do that".

Iphone is a good phone, but better depends on what you use the phone for. Iphone is simplier to use and the app set up is more organized and developed. That is where the advantage ends for me. I am more then just an app person so the droid suits me better. And google is willing to listen to the users....how long does it take for apple to implement a change that appeals to the fan base.

Did the OP buy his phone and have it activated in November during the holiday return policy? I'm curious cuz someone tried to return the eris he bought at the end of November, and they said he couldn't. I'm planning on returning my eris today and wanna know what to expect.

i bought mine just shortly after the holiday period started in november. i called 611 to clarify if i was allowed to return just the phone or end the contract as well and i was told both and the operator noted my account so that when i went in store they read the notes and went with what it said as opposed to trying to figure it out on their own. so it wouldnt hurt if you give 611 a call until you get the results you need and have them note your account.

oh and it looks like my shiny new iphone will be here in the next couple of hours and ill be happy to load all my previous iphone apps onto it and go back to using the phone without force quits, lockups, battery pulls and playing wifi games against my girlfriend

I could never go back to a phone without a customizeable desktops with shortcuts. Who wants to scroll though contacts and apps everytime you want to use one.

Funny, I can put whatever contact or app shortcut on my wife's iPhone screen I want. Haven't even jailbroken it yet.
