Yea, those mail order wife's can be a bit of a pain.

Anywho, I have a version 2, with no problems at all.
I think the different versions were simply built on different production lines.

It also seems HTC was in a hurry to build these. The SD cards are all different, the back plates are different, and poor build quality.

Sad, but I think it's true.

Back to the thread, I pre-ordered the white evo today. I could have got a black evo from best buy this week because i was first on the list but i kind of like the white and hope by july 11th they work out most if not all of the problems.

Im half Mexican half Puerto Rican. I met her in Puerto Rico while I was visiting some relatives during Christmas. She does speak some English but not enough to watch a whole movie, unless its just all action she's ok. And I'm fluent in Spanish so there is no language barrier.

So where did you get yours? Ukraine, Russia? If she's a pain just send her back UPS. LOL :D:D:D
 
Glad I saw this thread, I feel a lill better knowing up have version 3. Hopefully my screen holds together.
 
I have version 3 zero light leakage problems around the screen. I do however have a very small light leak where my mini hdmi and usb jack are located.
 
You all realize that you only get one free phone swap in the 30 day period? That's why I'm waiting for the 30th day and hopefully there's a version 4 by then.
 
I think we all need to chill...OCD HAS SET IN! On a serious note though, These problems are definitely real! Me and Mr Better Moist, as well as countless others have been in prob 3 threads, including his, talking about these issues. I gotta say, if you really think about it, were all covered. The manufacturers warranty is for a year. So regardless of anything, We can all get new phones when HTC really fixs the problems.

FYI- BUILD 3 is not a guarantee to be trouble free. It would be more like build 5/6. And even then a mass produced product is going to have some hiccups.

I returned the build 3 that I got at Sprint yesterday because it still had the light leakage, and the screen was washed out. I'll post pics tomorrow. Anyway, I'm going to enjoy my EVO thats of a build 2 generation! And when, and if, things get worse on it, I'll make my call to best buy and use that insurance for a brand spankin new one.
 
Mines a 'version 3' and it's got light leaking from the bottom. I don't frankly care, and yes the capacitive buttons still stay on based with the light sensor like any other ones. My screen's also kind of raised in the lower right-hand corner.
 
I got the hardware version 0003 and mine has the screen problem and my 4G doesn't work. I live in the Chicago land area so don't even try to say I don't have 4G coverage :p
 
I think all this hardware version stuff is BS. At least for now. I have version 3, and I have pretty bad light leakage, the top of the touchscreen grounding issue, and I've had a few random reboots.

Just to add to this, I have version 2 with some light leakage, but have none of the issues mentioned here. Also, not sure what they are saying the difference is with the battery door cover. Mine feels rubbery and is on pretty firm as well.....

Not chancing a return for a version 3 that might be worse then what I have now. I would say in a month or so we might see newer versions of the EVO with some different build quality.

Until then, I will hold what I have, and unless my screen gets worse and actually starts coming up, I see no reason to return it for another one. Who knows what new defects will be introduced to the new builds. I like to stick to the lesser of the evils and right now my evil is not that bad....

Like the saying goes, sometimes the grass isn't always greener on the other side......

It actualy has been getting worst. Im tempted to do the same and return mine to radio shack, but I will be losing my 50 dollar gift card plus a restocking fee according to RS. So I will just have to patiently wait till RS gets more in stock hopfully a better batch. Here is a pic of mine getting alot worst. I can even fit my blockbuster membership card in the gap.

so this is what it really looks like..this whole time i was concernced about the light leakage....but coming fromthe other way...under the home keys, leaking onto the lcd itself....so the light im seeing is normal and everyone has it....correct?

Yeah I also have light leaking on to the screen. But that doesn't bother me one bit, you can only see it in a certain angle. What bothers me is the light leaking through the bottom of the screen due to my screen slowly peeling away. So if you have light leakage from the bottom its due to your screen being raised, and it can get worst through time. Especially if you are like me and live in a very humid Iowa.

Oh yeah very especially months june through august. If you have never been to Iowa, Iowa has some of the best farm land in the country. Farmers grow corn, soybeans etc. The soil is rich one reason for that is that we get alot of rain, thus causing humidity. It gets miserable. Iowa has the two extremes. It gets very hot and very cold.

didn't know that, would have thought it quite arid there. i live in houston, so im no stranger to humidity. this city is built on top of a SWAMP next to a coastline. If I'm wearing glasses in august, I walk outside and they will actually fog up.
