goog overclock app/widget

well...back to overclocking. I was using setcpu and was experiencing horrible lag. maybe it was how I had my profiles set up, but after not using it I'm noticing my phone is much crisper. I think I'll go without for a while.

I would like to also add that my battery life has improved greatly.

I was up to 768 running cm6 with the latest kernel from decadence. I tried tinkering with the oc numbers but never could get rid of the lag or poor battery life. most of the battery issues were probably coming from running the latest RC stable. but I still had horrible lag when I switched to the nightlies. not anymore though. feels like a brand new phone.

this is off topic, but I couldn't get themes or custom boot screens to flash when using rc1 either. I think I'm goznma try them again to see if that actually was the problem.

can anyone tell me where to get the red themed version of cm6?

guys can someone help me I got to step 9 # 3 and when I put in adb push unrevoked\sdcard I get fail to copy 'unrevoked' to sdcard \ unrevoked :permission denied? today I went to unlockr and did there on push root and when I got to Rom Manger it froze up so I put the old software back on the phone and tried to root the phone the right way and now I dont know what I can do. Can someone please help me get this phone rooted the right way?

Battery pull - and reboot -
you will find one of two things -
1 - you are rooted (look for super user icon)
2 - you aren't ---- try it a few more times. Confirmed that it works on our sprint Hero's on that build

Yes....But you have a few steps left -

First - Download Rom Manager from the market and Make a Nandroid (backup)
Second - Pick your Froyo Rom!
3rd - Flash that sucker and enjoy!
(it is of course a BIT more complicated - but folks here will walk you through it)

Check DonB's Sig Line for his Step By Step Rooting and flashing instructions.

Man thank you so much! That did it he 2nd step in Rom Manger did it. I have been trying all day to make this work thank you. On more question or two . What is the best rom for someone like me I hear Froyo is the bests but I have no I deal and were can I found out how to change Rom's? One more Time thank you for your help

I don't want to hijack this thread, but since we're discussing OC'ing I thought I'd ask a question. I flashed the CM6 ROM on my wife's Hero last week (the RC1 not the 11/16 update) and it works great. Last night, I flashed the 691 MHz Deca kernal to try and speed it up some more. My question is this: the ROM I have on her phone...does it already have a 691 kernal? I d/l the OC Widget last night and not sure if I can really tell a difference.

You do not need a deca kernel to overclock, you should be able to oc with the stock kernel

Oops! Well, I flashed the Deca kernel so is that going to jack things up? How do I remove it now that I've installed it?

The easiest way is to reflash the RC1, as if you were going to flash a nightly.

Nandroid
Boot into recovery
Wipe cache
Wipe Davlik cache
Flash the RC1 build
Reboot phone

You will have the stock kernel again;)

ALL SETTINGS WILL BE AS YOU LEFT THEM
