Google Earth for stock 2.0.1 Droid

Tell me again what the point of Google Earth on the phone is? Frankly, what's the point of google earth at all? It's basically google maps, and we already have that.

I have never used Google Earth for anything other than to show off. Thus, I can not justify having this on my phone and it's such a huge program (almost 6 megs). Maybe I'll use Titanium Backup to save it to my SD card and download it to my phone as needed (which will probably be never).

Yeah, loading KML in Google maps is pretty easy. I could see this poor thing just crumpling like a tin can if you started putting some of my kml/kmz files on it. It's the kmz that really kills it.

those files would go to the SD card 1 would think, so not sure if it would really affect it IF you could even import them, which you cannot at this stage.

I use the heck out of GE. I have years worth of cycling, running routes mapped out all over the USA and my home area. I have 4x areas, parking spots, dog parks, my beaches, all marked out. I love GE. Also, I can use GE to then send the file to a buddy so they can see the course/route.

BUT for now, the Maps apps can pretty much do all of this so not much value in GE for the Droid for me. Plus, tracing or making routes in GE would suck on a phone, I would stick to the desktop for that.

Yeah, for my stuff, I need line of sight with that 3rd dimension. You know, what you can see of building A while atop building B and oh, by the way, can I be seen from building C while I am on B looking at A?

I hate doing standardized tests for a living. ;)
