Root Google Maps on Smoked Glass 6.0?

Does anyone else have the problem of Google Maps not being able to install the downloaded updates?

I finally tried deleting Maps using root explorer, and tried downloading and installing it from the market, but while it downloaded it fine, it always says :

"installation unsuccessful", so now I don't have any maps app!!!

Wow.. that sucks. Have you tried deleting via command prompt or terminal emulator? Whenever I've run into issues with an app, deleting it via adb commands and then re-downloading from the market (assuming I don't have the apk file) seems to do the trick. I'll keep thinking about this one..

Another thing is to make sure you delete the data associated with the Maps app before trying to reinstall - scroll down to the "Removing Data Left Over From APKS" at this link

there are probably some left over files if you just deleted the apk. I searched in root explorer on my phone and found 2 other files that definitely pertain to google maps. I just searched map

Try this. I found it on another site but can't remember who wrote it but all credit goes to whoever it was

1) opened the app Root Explorer
2) navigated to /system/apps
You have to mount the folder as R/W then delete the file then mount back to R/O
3) longpress on maps.apk to remove/delete it
4) rebooted
5) menukey > Settings/Applications/Managed Applications/ menukey > filter > all
6) located com.android.google.apps.maps which has a size of 0.00b or 0.03b
7) clicked it and uninstalled
8) went to the market, located and installed maps. It now works perfectly!!
