Help Google & Market Problem!

Hi there,

My HTC Hero on 1.5 is going through some problems...

It all started last night, I was trying to update some apps (Color Flashlight, for example) when every time I tried it said 'Installation Unsucessful' after trying. I thought that was odd, restarted my phone and tried again... I was able to download Bubble Blast Valentine as an app but not Game Dev Story or any other updates. Still nothing after waiting another hour.

I unmounted my SD card, took it out, cleared caches and Data in the Manage Applications section, made some more internal memory space, still nothing.

In my desperation I signed out of my Gmail account on my phone to sign in again to see if it would work. BIG MISTAKE!

Now when I try to access the market, I type in my Gmail, it loads for a while then it says something like 'Could not connect to google server'. I've tried it 100 times and it is driving me NUTS!

I am not willing to do a factory reset as I have lots of Apps, some paid, some with big highscores on them and some I have worked on for ages. I only have a lowly 1.5 Android version and as not I cannot store any apps, etc, on my memory card.

And help, please? Everything I do on my phone orbits around the market. I'm desperate and about to go nuts! :P

Thanks,

Conor

I assume that you've successfully re-added the Google account to the handset? Can you access Gmail and Maps? If so, but you still can't access the Market, try logging-in to Google Talk - for whatever reason that often seems to help.

Same problem last night & this moring,i can download apps but i get instalation unsuccesful each time it goes to install.
Never had a problem with this before i was wondering if it could be a provider problem any ideas?

Nope, every time I try to re-add my Gmail it says it 'can't connect to Google servers' or something silly like that. I have been trying non-stop in the hope it will eventually work!

Google maps I can access and the Gmail via the actual email function funnily enough too.
Market and Google Talk I can't - I need to sign in to access them and it wont let me because of the 'server issue'.

It is really beginning to drive me mental. -_-

Same issue on my WG620. I refuse to do a factory reset. We all know that a factory reset will fix almost any application issue on a smartphone, but it's a bit like changing the engine of your car when you could resolve the issue by just changing the battery. Fame and fortune to whoever can find an eloquent way of fixing this bug.

Just gonna echo what you said there Brian - I am unwilling to do a factory reset too. There must be another way and the person that can find it will earn a rightful place in the history books in my eyes.

Any saviours care to help?
