Google Music Beta

I requested an invite and got one a week or so ago. I have 33,000+ songs so I just told it to upload them all and then had to delete some from the browser as I went along. I've got most of what I want up there. Hopefully when it's no longer beta I can buy 40K songs or something. With the "pinning" feature this may replace my iPod. <3 it!

Yeah I've been working on it since like 2000 when I got my first computer that wasn't my parents. I still download a few albums a week.

I requested my invite on day one and received my invite on June 1. Downloaded/Sync'd my music (itunes) with no problem. I only wish the service handled videos as well.

A.Nonymous, I too wondered why my playlist didn't sync. I have to many to recreate, granted I rarely use them. So for me it's not an issue. HOWEVER, this feature should work.

It's my main reason why I don't use it that much. I do use playlists all the time and I've got several. Rebuilding them from scratch is gonna be a bitch. It's something that should just work.

I got my invite yesterday and added 250 songs. Haven't really played around with it yet but I like the layout.

I got my invite a couple days ago. Today I installed the Music Manager and tested with only 2 folders from my laptop.

During the installation, I selected Rock and Pop for the free music. Google has added about 90+ songs to my account right now (and still adding). It is all working great without any problem and I can play the music on my Galaxy S.

My only complaint is that, the artists Google is giving me are quite old. I asked for Rock and Pop and Google gave me Alice Cooper, Santana and Elvis Presley, WTF?!?!?! I want more current bands and artists, and not those from my parents' generation.

Since it is still adding, I will wait a while and see if Google will add some songs that are more relevant. I don't need 20,000 songs all from the last century, if you know what I mean.

Well those artists are 'Rock and Pop'.

Is there no way to specify that you want new 'Rock and Pop' rather than old 'Rock and Pop'? Now I like old 'Rock and Pop'. If I used this service, I'd probably end up with Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber... ewww!

I don't see how you can sync a phones music file with music beta. If I buy music from my phone I've got to move it to my computer first. Am I missing something?

Have you read what the service is about? It's simple and clearly explained.

I did not see such option. It will be nice if they include "which decade". Frankly, Google has to PAY ME to listen to Santana and Elvis....and I may not even accept that offer. Come on Google, if you are serious about challenging iTune, you need to give us the "real" songs and not these garbage songs.

Wait a minute? Pay you to listen to Elvis??? Pay YOU to listen to Elvis??? Blasphemy!!!! Post has been reported to the mods. Expect to be banhammered.

Can somebody give me "the pitch" on Google music?

If else, subscribing this thread for later. (Lmgtfy :))

Maybe you should suggest that to Google, then you can have your Lady Gaga...Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah-ah!, Roma-roma-mamaa! Ga-ga-ooh-la-la! :D

I prefer to listen to Wagner or Beethoven myself or even Sing Chinese Songs - Learn to sing famous Chinese songs

Then buy them. Google Music isn't a music store. As they say, beggars can't be choosers. The free tracks are just gravy. If you don't like the free tracks then delete them.

Yes.

See the link further down in my post.

You can get it yourself:
About Music Beta by Google

There are countless sites with info on Google Music as well such as Gizmodo, etc.

Is there a way to STOP playing a tune instead of just pause it? Without that, there always seems to be those green "now playing" bars showing on one of my tunes. Just curious......

^ Responded to you IM about it. Let me know if you still need help.

Shot in the dark question. My phone had randomly been turning off since activating the beta. Anyone else experiencing this?

Just got my invite tonight, starting to upload my 14,000 song library (about 65gb). Its gonna take a few days on my 1MB upload connection.

One question. How can we control what songs the music app will preload onto the sd card of the phone? Is there a size limit we can change? I know you can pick certain songs to download for offline use, but it also says it normally will cache any song you are listening to. This kinda worries me, as I only have an 8gb sd card, and it's already pretty full. I like to keep at least SOME free space in case i need to download something, but I dont want music beta to be using the little amount of free space i have.

I am really enjoying Google Music. I absolutely love the fact that you can pull up your entire library from any computer, no software needed. I visited my cousin the other day and his wife is really into music so I just logged onto my account and showed her a bunch of new stuff. The only thing that it needs is a remote app for the phone. If I was able to control the music on my computer from my phone I would give up itunes completely.

So on the initial upload you get to choose a genre or more to upload "free" songs..is it possible to go back and revise the genre selections after it's done doing it's thing? I haven't been able to find that option...

This rocks for listening to music in the car. Now I can stream anything from my entire collection through the car stereo using my Bluetooth adapter. I've had practically no issues with streaming over 3G, and it sounds pretty darn good.

The lack of playlists is really killing me. Amazon does upload playlists. Google Music does not. To me this is where Google Music falls apart. Amazon doesn't have all my music 'cuz I don't have enough space. Google Music does. However Google Music has none of my playlists and I'm not motivated enough to create all 10-12 of them from scratch all over again. I want to just pick a playlist, hit shuffle all and go to town. Amazon doesn't have the easiest way to do this either to be fair though.
