Google Navigation Landscape mode Question

Question: Can Google Navigation be put into landscape mode while holding the phone in a way that the home/menu buttons are on the left side?

Background...

I bought a mount that holds the phone in landscape mode with the home/menu buttons on the left side as pictured below.

Unfortunately, Google Navigation does not go into landscape mode in that position. The phone must be held sideways so that the home/menu buttons are on the right side (which is mount is not meant to support even though its possible.)

Thanks

No, it doesn't if you are looking to mount that on your dash like that. But I believe that mount was made to attach to your windshield, meaning it would be mounted upside down as of that picture putting the buttons on the right side. In that case, GMaps does orient itself in landscape that way.

Can't you just turn the phone the other way? The phone is pretty symetrical. The only thing I can think of is that the volume buttons might interfere with the clip.

I was hoping there was some type of a tweak that would allow the app to go into landscape mode in that position.

Thanks for the input folks.

actually, flipping the phone the other way would cause the volume buttons to be quite clear of any clips.

Cant flip the phone; tab presses on the lower volume button. I wouldn't have created this thread if that wasn't the case.

Froyo itself allows for rotating both ways. The 270 degree orientation was one of the features. However, I can not 100% confirm that it works with Google Maps. You need to ask a Nexus One owner to try it out.

Could you simply trim the clip some or is the interfeerence REAL bad?

I have 2 of these in the mail, I guess i'll find out soon enough.

Didn't I read that Froyo will let you go landscape in either direction? (if so, that would solve this)

The problem is that the app itself needs to support it from what I understand. I don't know if it just needs to support rotation or if it needs to support 360 rotation.

How good of a mount can that be if they don't even know which way the phone needs to be installed? I got a $15 bean bag mount that clamps the phone in so it works in any direction. Not sure I'd trust it to keep my evo attached to a motorcycle.

I use Velcro. It's not sexy, not cool but works great. I don't have a flat place on the dash of my Mustang (I do in my truck) so I installed a PanaVise Pedestal with a piece of Velcro were the mount would go. It also works great.
