One thing that I think was omitted from the above is the added option to have widgets automatically installed on your desktop.

Put a dark-theme option in the settings & it'd be OK w/me.

As I'm going on Year 3 w/ANDROID phones,I'm growing less & less concerned w/the PLAY STORE & the app drawer on the phone in general,whether it's the stock interface or,a 3RD party launcher.

Reason being I use both infrequently,as my app inventory is somewhat complete & I just don't use either one that much.

Once my desktop is set,I'm good & use my phone for its intended purpose(s).

Ditto mate. I only really use the search function on playstore, i never just window shop lol. And the app drawer i NEVER use.
Im just thinkin as a google fanboy and wantin them to succeed.. the new Play (they should re-name it MARKET lol) just doesnt look as commercial as it does now. My wife is the perfect example of an average android user n she doesnt like it.
Also, where are you Rxpert mate? Is it only me or is the UK getting a stripped down version just now?

It's just taking time for everything to fall into place as far as the UK services for Play Store is concerned.
