Google Play 49 cent sale

do you think we can handle the change from android market to google play?
does anyone have the old vending.apk's? or the new one... to share with the rest of the wold? post your feelings here

What the! :/ Why the heck did Google change the name from Market to Play? I do NOT like the new naming for the Market.

Disappointed in the $0.49 apps line-up. Over half of these apps were in the $0.10 deal last year.

I probably just gave my last recommendation for Android use in any professional environment. Trying to imagine any exec putting in an expense report for Documents to Go and explaining why the word Play is even there.

But now Google is like Apple, the iTunes Music Store does films too.

And now you can Play Books.

We're not kowtowing to gamers at all. Nope, not a bit. We love being associated with them at all times. You bet.

Of course, you get music on Play for your desktop. Because the desktop market for that is huge. Oh, wait, no it's not.

We have just been told the importance of the Android brand by Google.

It could be worse, I was expecting the font for 'play' to be something really childish, perhaps Ravie.... ;)

Yeah, I don't get this name at all. Play definitely implies that it's for games or maybe media, but not for apps. Especially anything productive. Early is right, no one is going to be thrilled about buying a productivity app from a store called "play".

Hmm..... not diggin it.

Did anyone else get their Market app updated? I was looking all over for it, then I realized it's now called Play Store.

I just saw another post by someone who did. I checked mine but it hasn't been updated yet. The naming is getting dumb and dumber.

i got a few of the games.. great price..

got the album
got a book

what app does google want us to use to read the book??

yeah.. the former "market" must told me to get that app to read the book..

but... does it work with amazon books and other book providers?

I have to wonder what happens after 7 days. Do you have to pay full retail if you want to continue using the app? I didn't risk it and noticed that Amazon decided to match Google's prices on their MP3 offering. If this is only a 7 day rental then I expect a lot of people are going to raise hell in 6 more days. I sure hope I'm wrong.

Nova is not compatible with my Atrix :@

Anyone bought the Jamie Oliver app? Would you say that it motivates you to cook? :)

I bought half a dozen apps. I already have the other half dozen, lol.

The kids will definitely be happy! I got more games for them *kekeke*

I downloaded the Jaimie Oliver app a while back when it was a free app of the day on Amazon. It's a nicely designed app with some pretty good recipes, I would definitely recommend it.

My guess is it is an attempt to appeal to the younger crowd...
Undoubtedly, but younger people aren't the ones with disposable income!

To the OP, thanks for the info. Nothing there that interests me, but I'll keep an eye on it.

It sure can be confusing for newbies to Android. I kept getting Google Play after trying to use Market. I thought Play was hijacking Market and I kept cancelling Play.
