Google syncing issues - Cyanogen v6

I have recently rooted my phone as well as flashed the Cyanogen v6 ROM (FroYo). The only issue I am having is with syncing but not in the usual sense. In everything but the contacts app I can see my google contacts (chompSMSu is an example). I can successfully go into my Gmail and basically anything else Google related. It's only the actual contact list that isn't showing up, even though syncing elsewhere is possible.

I have checked the syncing options, did a factory reset, flashed to a different rom (and come back again) and it still isn't working.

What seems to be the underlying issue from what I am describing?

Have you checked your display options in the contact app? Go into contact app, press menu, display options

Yes I have. It shows that my gmail is synced and I have the option to only show people with numbers but I don't have my list of contacts.

Amazing...
What the problem was was that my groups weren't selected - like "Family" and "Friends". It was just the "All Contacts" which I have no one in. Now all of my contacts are displayed and sorted.
Thank you for the help. Now I know for sure that I am sticking with Cyanogen (I would've reverted to the stock 2.1 if I couldn't get my contacts shown.)
