Help google voice sucks!

As a test.. I left a message about 90 minutes ago on my cell phone.. I still haven't gotten any indication on my phone.. online however, the message seems to be there.

Follow up on this: Since I got no notifications for the test message that I left 90 minutes ago.. I clicked on the google voice icon on my phone.. and the notification popped up for a new message.. even though I left the message 90 minutes ago.. it displays the message as having received NOW (when I opened the GV on my phone).

where is this?

In google voice:
menu-> settings -> sync and notification -> Synchronize Inbox (check), Background data (enabled)

And just to be safe:
Home -> Menu -> Settings -> Accounts & Sync -> Background Data (check), Autosync (check)

great!.. I tried calling my cell phone from my office desk.. and this time.. for extra kicks and giggles,..even though I could hear the rings going thru.. my phone never physically rang, or vibrated or anything.. no missed call either..

Lately, (past 3 to 4 days).. I have been dropping calls left and right.. Whats going on with the Inc?

synchronize inbox was NOT selected (the source of the problem I guess?).. How did this change? I have never changed it myself.. and like I said.. earlier it was working fine and stopped working the way it should in the recent past.

No idea, but make sure that's checked, and to be safe, soft reset your phone (turn it off then back on) Hope things get cleared up for you. GV is a great service and I would never let it go now that I've been using it for nearly a year.

+1

Can a Mod please change the name of this thread to "google voice rocks!" :D

thanks for the tip necosino.

I am a big fan of google products and honestly.. google voice has still not completely impressed me. The transcription feature is hilarious at best.... doesn't allow for SMSing with mobile number projection.. (uses Google voice number)..

I'll test the notification delay issue and see how that works out.

@kriskmk Have you gone into your Google Voice Settings on your phone. Look at Sync and notifications. Check for Synchronize Inbox is checked and Background data is Enabled. ALso see if Inbox Notifications is checked as well.

Do you have background data turned on?

These were going to be my two suggestions as I had similar issues. When I turned on sync notifications and I turned on mobile always on, the problem went away.

The other problem I had is that my GVoice forwards to my cell and my home phone. My home phone was picking up and taking messages half the time and I had to re-configure it to not pick up so quickly.

thanks for the tip necosino.

The transcription isn't great. No arguments there. It's better than nothing though. Sometimes I've found it will be almost 100% accurate. Other times it's so far off as to be completely useless. I'm not sure what you're wanting with mobile number projection with SMS. When you do SMS you're sending from your GVoice number. That's by design.

As long as I can access the voice message it is OK but, yes, the actual written transcription really sucks so much as to be useless.
