Google Wallet Is Pretty Awesome!

So I was bored and wanted to see what this "Google Wallet" was all about. Loaded it up got my free $10 and went to Mcdonald's and got the new Cherry Berry Chiller! It's so awesome putting your phone up to the "paypass" reader to pay. The cashier was all confused, so priceless.
 
That does sound cool, but I am personally a little concerned about Google having too much of my information. I am also unsure about the security of Google Wallet.

Honestly, it too me a while to trust PayPal until they strengthened their security policies.
 
To be honest you could make a totally bogus Gmail account cause they don't even ask you for a credit card or anything to get your free $10. I do understand where your coming from tho. Google is slowly taking over the world!
 
Is there some way to find out what places near me accept Google Wallet as payment? I'm totally down to waste my first $10 on something frivolous.
 
I went walgreen I thought was rite paypass thing or maybe I did it wrong. I really want free one try it out. Anyone no if there list of ones in my area?
 
Just used my $10 to buy a six-pack. The kid at the register definitely thought I was crazy when I said I was going to pay with my phone!

I'm not sure if I see how it's any more convenient then just swiping my debit card, but hey, "Thanks for the free beer Google!"
 
Just tried using this today.
I think I read you do not have to start GW to use, but since it's my first time, and had not checked up on it, I started it and paid for my meal with it.

Best lunch I ever had.... thanks Google!
 
In case you haven't read the news article yet, some users are reporting if you use google wallet and then do a factory reset you can no longer use your NFC with wallet. You have to reset wallet from within the app before you do your factory reset.
 
I bought lunch at McDonalds with this today. Pretty cool. I bought my Elite for $130, sold my V for $50, and got $25 from google wallet. So my Elite ended up costing $55, not too shabby :D
 
How do you get the free cash? I activated Wallet and dont see any balance. Do you need to add a card before getting the freebie?
 
Just checked my balance and the extra $15 is in there. Time to go freak out another convenience store clerk when I pay with my phone!:cheers:
 
I activated Google Wallet on my OE more than 3 weeks ago and have yet to receive my extra $15. Is there something I need to do to get the money?

I just tried to check my balance to see if the extra $15 had hit my account and it won't accept my PIN, it keeps saying an error occurred and if it continues to restart the device.

The one store I was in that has had a NFC reader I couldn't get signal to load wallet. And if I'm going to have to be restarting this is a huge no for me for usefulness.
 
There is a Mastercard app on Google Play called "Paypass Locator" that works very well (uses Google Maps) for those asking for a directory of locations to use wallet.

To use Google Wallet do you have to open the application first?
The first time I tried it at McD's the phone screen was on but not in the application and it didn't do anything. Thought if NFC was turned on and sensed the reader it would start up Wallet for me?

The next test (gas station) I opened the application AND pre-entered my PIN number, then held the phone to the reader....and the payment went through without asking for a confirmation on the price, which I thought it would....I'll have to try next time turning the application on but not entering my pin and see what happens....or if someone can list their procedure. :)
 
I got my extra $15! :) I activated it on May 24, so 4 weeks.

Never used it otherwise, would be nice if they sent an email or something...
