Gorilla Glass / Any scratches yet?

My previous captivate had light scratches on the screen T_T it's cause of my earring. Gotta go get a screen protector for my current one. I'm thinking of getting steinheil - though they're quite pricey :x

My Vibrant got a hairline scratch, no clue how, I had a screen protector on it and recently took the protector off, and boom it gets a scratch, my luck...not a good idea.

Had the phone for 2 weeks so far sans-screen protector.

Haven't noticed a scratch to either the screen nor the phone itself yet.

Same here, mystery deep clickable scratch from just being in my pocket.
I am hearing that not all the phones have the same glass hmmm
I am writing a letter to Samsung to get the truth.

My phone is roughly 4 months old, completely in the buff :p

I recently dropped the phone twice on its face---one on a hardwood floor, the other tile. There is a slight nick at the bottom of the screen, right above the G in "Samsung". Barely noticeable, at only certain angles do you even know it's there.

Very impressed with its durability. Now if they can only fix some of their other issues. ;)

I used the body glove case and the at&t screen protector for the first 4 months, then dropped them both because I simply love the look of the captivate naked and the screen responsiveness is better for gaming without a screen protector. In the last 2 months I haven't had a scratch on the screen... but I have gone back to the body glove case just because I have been skiing and I'm afraid of falling on it.

Why would someone not want to protect their investment with a clear screen protector or a nice case?

Why would someone want to decrease screen touch sensitivity, reduce SAMOLED screen brilliance and bulk up a svelte design with an ugly screen protector or a bulky case?

;-)

Scratched mine in my pocket with car keys. That shouldn't have happened! Finally bought fingerprint resistant screen saver (for the tactile feel) and it covers the scratch fairly well, though it can still be seen. It's a bugger - almost a 1/2" wide in the middle.

Also had what looked like two chemical "swipes" vertically down the middle of the screen. Couldn't get it off with anything. Protector hides that very well.

Gorrilla Glass, my gorilla a**.....

Now that my wife regularly gave my 11-month old daughter my phone for her to play with, it still had no scratch on it, with her clawing and scratching at it with her fingernails.

She also claws at the iPad too, no scratch on there either.

But these are fingernails, not keys and coins.

After 6 months with no screen protectors (don't like the feel or look) still no scratches in the glass (crossing fingers, knocking on wood). It's usually in my pocket with my keys (much to my dismay at my absentmindedness).

Now, the case around the glass... that's another story. Scratches, dents, nicks...

had mine since september, but only running it without screen protector for the past 3 months. no scratches or anything yet, though I am using the body glove.

One thing I'm not so happy about is that, initially, the screen was great at keeping off oil or fingerprint smudges, but after a month or so of use, that coating just disappeared and every time I play pew pew or something, i see huge smudges around my screen.

It guess its only natural though

After 6 months with no screen protector, my screen has no scratches. I cleaned my screen perfectly and shined some light on it. I saw some ultra fine scratches tho I wouldn't even call them micro scratches. More like ultra micro scratches. I would feel comfortable selling this phone and say there are no scratches on the screen.

The case on the otherhand.... I am getting some abrasion on the backside around the camera lens and in strips along the top and bottom from just sitting the phone on tables and whatnot.

Scratched mine when I hit my Rocknob gear shifter. 3 small scratches, thankfully on the back button and not the middle of the screen.
I use a screen protector now.

Had this one (my sixth cptvte) for about a month. Lots of minute scratches, but you can't see them if it's on. There's a kind of scratch from the home button halfway up the screen, but it rubs off. Yet it comes back almost immediately. It looks like a fingerprint-swipe, but it isnt...

Phone is old now and yes I have one scratch. Pretty good one too as it rainbows at times. Oh well. Been naked but for a body glove rubber case. No screen protector, they suck.

I have had my Captivate since its release in June 2010 and have not had one scratch on the glass. I have a Bodyglove case and certain nothing on the case. The phone looks brand new. Now if it werent so laggy from time to time....

A few small scratches on the screen and on the sides/back. No case or screen protector. I carry it in my front pocket with my car keys.
Very pleased on how it has held up. Plan on doing the same when I get a SGSII when I get it.

Been going more than 6 months now without the Zagg. Only using a body glove and so far, I have no scratches.
The only thing i have to complain about is that oil sticks to the screen now and is getting harder and harder to wipe off.
