Gorilla Glass

It doesn't really bother me either way if it's GG or LG or "xG" (x - enter your company of choice here) , I just want the griping on the glass type to cease, but I guess it's just wishful thinking on my part........lol

Very wishful thinking indeed!

I'm sorry...A First class, Grade A phone, should have a good screen that is fairly good at preventing scratches. And I think the collective group that's complaining just feels the hits just keep on coming!

No SD slot
Same resolution cam as Nex S
No Gorilla Glass
Now no Lotus Glass...

For those that followed this since the Prime jumped on the scene, its a little bit of a let down...Yea and you and some others can say, well then skip it and get something else, lol.....No fun in that!!!

What's next, it doesn't make Phone calls?

That's usually what happens when a phone is hyped and people buy into the hype.

It's already been said that it has fortified glass that is scratch resistent, it's not GG or LG, and I'm fine with that.

Judging from the sample pics I've seen taken with the GNex, the pictures are better quality than the Nexus S, ip4 and ip4s.

The only thing that bothers me is the no SD, but if it's released as a 32GB version I can live with that, as long as it's priced right.

It doesn't matter to me whether they call it GG or LG or something else as long as it's the same quality fortified glass. Samsung is just using the similar glass of their own without paying Corning for the name. Frankly I don't get why this is being questioned over and over.

Its fairly simple....you have to put it into perspective like this...

You walk into a steak house, open a menu, and you see a Dry Aged Porter House Steak for say $60, and underneath you see a strip steak for $30. They're both the same right? Same steak house, same meat right? Nopeeeee....totally different on all accounts. One tastes amazing, one tastes like leather....lol! Price can stem from what's quality sometimes, and what's not.

You are right though, it has been beaten to death. But look at the scenario. Nobody from Samsung/Google said a word! Just no GG...Then we see a joint venture by Sammy/Corning for Lotus Glass with an article about glass for HD screens with a guy bending glass? Ok we asume Lotus right? Nope, not that either Sammy says now...

Ok we know u wanted the Porter House Mr Sandroid, but here is something else that came from the same cow...Enjoy...lmaoooo! Catch my drift...

How was the glass on the Droid Charge? Could you tell that that was not Gorilla Glass? Gorilla Glass is 100% marketing. I am sure there are plenty of other glass companies that can put out a fortified glass that is the same as Cornings. I am not worried about the glass at all.

The glass on the Charge and Bionic are pretty good I must say. Something that is worth noting, when you wipe the screen with a T Shirt or micro fiber cloth, all the prints come right off, no smudges, no smears. When you do it on say the iphone, which by the way does not have Gorilla Glass, you get a ton of smudges, and if you use a micro cloth...you can see tiny hairline scratches on the screen. Not the case with any of my phones that have had Gorilla Glass.

Granted...nothing is full proof! But any extra protection helps..

Unless you're talking about an iPhone 3/3gs, I have to call bullshit.

The iPhone 4/4s has extremely durable scratch resistant glass. My g/f doesn't protect her screen in anyway, throws her phone in her bag with keys and all other sorts or crap, and the screen is 100% scratch free. And prints wipe off almost in a single swipe with any cloth. No one puts screen protectors on iPhone 4's. They're just as good as gorilla glass

Lotus glass is not a replacement for gorilla glass, it's not even the outermost layer of glass. It's below the outer layer of glass.

Me too I had both the i4 and 4s and routinely wiped off the screen and never got any scratches.

I think there must be some quality assurance differences in the iPhone 4 screens. My sister's 4 is six mobths old and looks atrocious when her screen is off. And the display unit (4s) at the local AT&T store is very striated looking as well.

For the 9857423194873216841571923736150984751982379x, Gorilla Glass DOES NOT make a screen scratch proof, or even anywhere near so. If you stick your GG screen into a pocket containing quartz sand, you will likely pull it out scratched just as you would a normal glass screen. Will it possibly help your chances of not scratching it with, say, your keys? Likely so (unless you have hardened steel keys-WTH would you have that?), but it is no end all be all. The only real fool-proof protection is you not a being a fool.

iphone 4 glass is horrid, just about everyone I know has a screen protector on they're phone. My brother is as careful as can be and got a scratch on his after about 2 weeks with the 4s...

And no...Apple doesn't use gorilla glass, or anything like it.

And if your talking about smudges, I had the 4s for a little while, the the phone was an absolute smudge nitemare. With my Bionic, I can wipe it once and it's crystal clear...not the case with the 4 or the 4s...

Dropped my SGN today somewhere between 2 - 3 feet. Glass shattered, 3 long cracks the length of the screen......... Verizon nor Best Buy will do a thing. Only option is to wait 30 days for insurance to kick in. Now when I try to use the phone it scratches my finger.

This is my personal nightmare. I declined the insurance.

I declined the insurance at first. Best Buy wanted $9.99 per month. But a few days later I went to the Verizon store and purchased insurance for $100 for 2 years. Probably would have a new phone if I bought BB insurance but I can wait 30 days for the saving with the Verizon insurance.

Simple as this....No Gorilla Glass, no buy!

No SD I've comes to term with in the last few days, and would just adapt to using the cloud!

But no Gorilla glass on such a high end phone with that big a screen is just a no go for me. I don't use screen protectors, and im not about to start.

That right there would send me right over to the Razr....case closed!

Just to add...
I just checked the Gorilla Glass web site! No dice on listing it on there with the rest of Samsungs devices that offer it!

FYI...Razr listed on there already!

Jeeeeez...Google really penny pinched

Well.........bye.
