Accessories Got an HTC 1500mah battery today.

I just got my TP2 battery on Saturday and charged it up. I'm starting to think I have a defective stock battery because I am getting MUCH better battery life with the TP2. I work in several buildings and one has no service (gov't facility that blocks signal). I spend a good part of the day there and keep my phone in Airplane mode while there. With the stock battery, I would see some drain there throughout the whole day. With the TP2, it was still showing full when I left. Did some texting, checking mail and web for about an hour or so and was still 85%. This is just with one charge, so haven't even cycled through a few charges. But already it kills the stock battery.

Fit is tight and I have an ever-so-slight gap. Only able to see it if you are looking for it. I have the silicone case so it makes no difference at all to me. The performance difference is amazing. But like I said, I'm starting to think I have a defective stock battery. Going to go over to VZ and see if I can swap it, but am in no rush. May have to order another TP2. For the price, it can't be beat.

What is your usage pattern like?

I talk maybe 30-60 minutes a day, use 20-30 minutes of internet, keep the 3G off and wifi on whenever possible, and otherwise don't use my phone (no apps, really). I have some widgets running...

I still get about 13-14 hours. I really wish I could get a solid day's worth of use with HEAVY usage.

I'm using a 1600 mAh battery (same one that Chomsky has).

I received the tp2 oem last night. seems to be working well. case fits perfectly.

ordered on Amazon and it looked used, called company and they are sending me another one and letting me keep this one so I will have two 1500 mahs batteries.

Unlike the intelligent folks out there in the forum, I ordered the $6 version (free shipping) of the 1500 TP2 battery off ebay. I received it today, put it in and it really left a substantial opening in the case. I looked at the battery and thought I might be able to do something with the wrapper to make the battery fit better so I started to fool around with it. To my suprise, the black wrapper that said "FOR: HTC Touch Pro2, 1500 mAh" came off and underneath it was another black wrapper. The one stated "FOR: HTC Droid Eris 1500 mAh". I started to peel that wrapper to see if there was something else under it, but there wasn't. I was hoping to find a 1750 mAh but no luck.

The battery now fits fine with no openings around the case; it was charged to 83% and seems to be working fine. My question is: Is there any way to determine if this battery is a 1300 mAh or a 1500 mAh? The OEM battery for the Droid Eris was a 1300 mAh but extended 1500 mAh batteries were also available. The seller on Ebay has a high rating and guarantees the merchandise for 30 days. If it is a 1500 mAh I'm fine with this battery but I don't know how to determine it.

During the week, It's usually light to medium (light during the day and medium to heavy at night). On weekend it's generally heavy usage. I haven't tried out the TP2 with heavy usage yet (will this weekend), but I'm positive I won't get an entire day out of it. I don't think it's possible to get a full day's worth of heavy usage on a smart phone with a 1500 or 1600 mah battery.

I bought mine from the cell depot but I am suspecting that it's used. IT came kind of beat up looking, I'm getting less life than my genuine TP2 battery from my old phone, and they ignore my email asking whether or not it is new or used. Also notice they never mention that it is new on the site....

Hmm, that's strange. Mines came in today, and the battery was perfectly wrapped, just like how the battery was wrapped when I opened the Incredible for the first time.

i dont remember exactly but didnt the battery just come wrapped in a small plastic baggy with a piece of tape holding it shut?

as long as the battery works well for you then its all good!

Yeah, it's a little thicker than the OEM. As some other posters have said, there are *slight* gaps to be found at the bottom of the back case, but it's BARELY noticeable, I mean unless you're looking for them you don't notice it. That and it adds a little heft are the only real downsides.

I'm really happy with the performance of the batt, and it's nice knowing I've got the OEM as a backup.

Allright, I think i'll bite on this as well. Couldn't hurt to give it a shot, and I have the silicon case as well, so, any minuscule gaps won't be an issue. Thanks for sharing your experience with this 1600 mAh battery.

just got myself a 1500 OEM today. the battery is just slightly taller than the OEM 1300 that came with my phone. setting them down on the table and looking from a side view i can tell its taller. also you can feel the difference running your finger between them.

i actually like that it is bigger. i could feel the case flex in my fingers if i tried before and it made the phone feel kinda cheap. now with this battery it feels much stiffer and maybe a tiny bit heavier too. i definitly like the change.
i do see that small gap at the bottom of the phone that everyone is talking about but without looking at it straight on the only place i can make out any red is the gap where you pull the back off at.
it was much tougher to close the back then with the 1300mah, all you need to do it pinch the very edges of the phone tightly all the way around in a circle. i had to do it twice to make sure each snap was in place.
im charging it now. hopefully it will last a couple hours longer thats all i need.

I just got mine today. It is a little thicker. I'm excited for the extra 200 mah. I get pretty good life from my stock battery.

Fully charged mine last Friday night and with just my general use, Talking, text, facebook and market I just put the DI on the charger for the 3rfd time since. :)

With the OEM 1300 I was having to charge daily.

I too have a Cell Depot battery and I am suspecting it might be used as well. It didn't look beat up but it seems to drain much faster than the stock. My "Battery Left" and "Juice Plotter" apps both show the exact same "time remaining" on the battery after a full charge as the stock despite having 200 mah more on the TP2 batt. On my 45 minute commute this morning I left home at 100% and when I got to work it was down to 89% with just a couple views of Google Maps.

Ho-hum, at least it was only a $15 experiment. Patiently waiting on the VZW extended battery.

I, too, received my 1500 mah HTC TP2 battery last night. I'm on the first charge so I don't have any comments about performance. However, as far as fit goes, yes, it's (slightly) thicker, but if you press all around the edges when replacing the battery cover you can get it to snap on without any gaps. At first I had gaps, but I realized I hadn't fully snapped it shut.

You are 100% correct. It's the same with the seidio 1750 battery. The cover snaps shut but there is a very small gap at one side of the phone.

I'm a little behind the time on the original post for my reply to this but....

I have a Seidio 1750 in my phone and there is NO gap on either side when stock back cover is snapped on (no, I am not going to take and post a picture of nothing to see). With moderate usage I can go from about 8AM until sometime late morning the following day before I get down below 10% remaining. With heavier usage (a lot of talking and moderate internet use) it gets down into the sub 20 range by 10 at night the same day. I am not quite sure what apps did it but I have also drained the thing in the course of about 3 hours (was installing, testing, leaving things running pretty much the whole time). I think I am going to get one of the 1500's just to compare. Price is right.

Now back to my regularly scheduled search for a desktop cradle with a spare battery charger for my Incredible.

i don't know what you guys are doing to get such great battery life. i get MAYBE 8 hours with moderate-to-heavy usage, and that's with the 1500 HTC battery...

glad i bought the package of the two generic 1500 batteries plus charging cradle, though. they served me well last weekend (went through all three batteries in 13 hours or so of being out of the house with nowhere to plug in, although the two generics were only charged to about 75% each).

I know what you mean. I've been using my phone constantly since 9 this morning and I am at 25% now. I think that comes out to being 5 hours on this charge? I just got this battery yesterday though so its still calibrating.

EDIT:
Actually now that i think about it I havent used this phone this heavily since the first day I got it and that day it lasted less than 4 hours so I think this new battery is doing good.

Hi everyone, here are my stats using a HTC TouchPro2 1500mAh OEM battery for the TP2 but in the Incredible of course:

I removed the phone from the charger just after 7am yesterday morning (June 2nd 2010):

UpTime: 28:03:07
AwakeTime: 6:49:37
Battery %:3 %
Wifi: On (Only on for 10 hours or os)
GPS: On
Bluetooth: Off

Unplugged time: 1 day 4 hrs 2 mins 51 secs
  • Cell standby: 32%
  • Phone idle: 30%
  • Android system: 19%
  • Voice Calls: 6%
  • Display: 6%
  • Wifi: 5%
  • Dialer: 2%

My usage pattern: moderate to light usage. basically a fairly even mix of reading emails (30), calls (25 mins), texts (20), android market downloads (2 apps), uz media player background videos (2 hours), listened to a couple audio podkasts, used touiteur for about 30 minutes, listened to music for about an hour, and composed a couple of emails throughout the day.

Wow. This completely destroyed my stock battery. I am VERY impressed. :D

This doesn't really mean anything.

Medium and Heavy are very subjective.

On another note, let's move this thread :)

I purchased one of the 1750mAh batteries directly from seidioonline.com and am in the process of returning it. As previous posters have mentioned its capacity is between 1350mAh and 1400mAh. I took my battery to Batteries Plus and they kept it for a few days to test it and reported simular results. I called seidio with this information and explained that if it was a defective battery then they can send a replacement. They pretty much dodged the question and neither confirm nor deny the actual capacity of the battery.

HTC does make an extended 1500mAh OEM battery for the Incredible. It's red just like the stock battery.

Has anyone tried the $5 battery with free shipping from dealextreme? DealExtreme: $5.01 3.7V 1500mAh Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery for HTC Touch Pro 2

EDIT: on a side note, has anyone else noticed if you run the 1750mAh battery till it dies and shuts itself off and then plug it into wallcharger to charge, it will say its 100% charged after ~60 minutes. Is this some kind of miracle battery? cause I use the same charger with my Touch Pro and it takes ~3 hours to charge fully.

I didnt know batteries plus could test capacity like that for you. Did u pay anything for it? Also did u check to see if they had any batts in stock for u?

No, they did it for free. I don't like buying batteries from them TBH, their prices are usually higher than the verizon store.

soo i decided to do a test to see what kind of battery life i could get with the TP2 battery.

i turned off the mobile network, gps, wifi, and bluetooth and basically used the phone as a phone only (calling, texts, etc.)

Up time (off charger)= 152 hours! (6 days 8 hours)
awake time= 3 hours
battery level= 10% left

i am simply amazed at how long it is possible to go if you actually needed the phone to last all weekend without access to a charger

if you ever need/want extremely long battery life and only need the phone to call and receive texts, this is a great way to make the battery last for days!
