Got it today but...no Flash support

So i got my Galaxy Nexus in UK today, it's great but I tried to get Adobe Flash player (i know they've announced that they're stopping it) but it's not on the market. Is that it, no more flash player at all?! I thought it'd just stay as it was with only security updates, no new versions etc...
 
If you were looking at the market from your phone, I believe it will not show up if its not compatible
 
What does that mean for us, will we get a work around like Apple did? Maybe Adobe will put out an HTML 5 player?
 
i definitely can't get it. tried browsing to the market on my laptop to flash and sending the link and on the phone it just says not supported and won't let me install :(
 
Then its still on the market it just doesnt support the Nexus. Figured as much would happen since they arent doing anymore updates.
 
I searched the Market and couldn't find Flash, so I went online to try and get it that way and it said Flash isn't supported on your device or operating system.

Is that because this is running Android 4.0? Anyone out there thinking there will be a release to support the Nexus. Otherwise this is pretty lame.

Everything is trying to move to HTML5, which apparently doesn't require Flash. Doesn't help in every circumstance, though.

Well, you can always try to sideload the latest version of Flash for Android... Google "Flash Android .apk" and see if you can get that on the phone.

I know that Adobe was dropping mobile support for Flash... but I didn't know they'd do it THIS fast!
 
Let's see, No Flash, fixed storage memory....... is this the Galaxy iNexus?? hahahaha Either way, I'm getting it!!! I dont have Flash on my iPhone 4s and I havent missed it once yet
 
Sometimes it can take a little while, the first rule of owning a Nexus device is to be patient. It can take up to a month for all of the devs to release an update that works with ICS.
 
Yep, the disadvantage of being on the bleeding edge is that you don't always have all of the support of applications right away.
 
Though I loathe Flash, will be glad to see it go, this is NOT Adobe's ability to move fast and get it removed since they announced no future or ongoing support. This is likely an ICS thing or 1 of the logical reasons above. It will be a long time before Flash is gone and it will be on the Nexus no doubt.

Ehh ya i don't care how great vanilla ICS is the main reason i myself chose android is because it allowed me to view the web the way it was meant to be viewed. Now i know that flash is no longer supported but at the same time many other powerful devices coming out still support flash for now.

The future is html5 for sure but until then it's still flash on the mobile platform. Hopefully Skyfire does the trick or perhaps the new Firefox that is supposed to have built in flash too.

Otherwise i am perfectly happy ignoring updates on other phones, sticking with Gingerbread and saying
"Nice try Nexus".

Here is to hoping someone tests out Skyfire/Firefox and i am hoping for the best! :)

Based on their website (excerpt below), it doesn't appear that Adobe will be making any further updates to Flash, to support new OS's. When I heard the news last week, I completely didn't think about ICS. Damn - if this is the case, it will depend on web builders to make sure they're using HTML5. And many still aren't yet. At least most of my favorite radio stations have apps now.

Adobe:
"We will no longer continue to develop Flash Player in the browser to work with new mobile device configurations (chipset, browser, OS version, etc.) following the upcoming release of Flash Player 11.1 for Android and BlackBerry PlayBook."

Based on Adobe's website, it appears ICS didn't make the cut. I hope that side-loading works... Please report back!

Can people please stop saying that ICS doesn't support flash? Flash currently doesn't support ICS. There's a big difference.

Now whether or not Adobe is going to update it to support ICS remains to be seen.
 
Flash works on Honeycomb and since ICS is an evolution of Honeycomb it shouldn't take much to get it to work. However, if flash doesn't work that's another major strike against the Nexus. If you like flash then OEM skins may be your only hope.
 
Does anybody remember if any Flash web pages were demoed in the presentations in Hong Kong or London? I recall reading the speculation going into San Diego's canceled CTIA event that "this would be Google's chance to remind everyone of Android's Flash support right after Apple's iPhone announcement."

So, actually, isn't is odd that Flash isn't already ready, it being such a "signature" component of the Android platform.

What IF Android 4.0 is truly where Adobe is ending its commitment to the mobile platform? That would be making a compelling and very clear statement on their behalf.
