Got some questions? think they're stupid? POST 'EM HERE

At least with 2.2 (not sure about CM ROMs yet) you can always create as many groups as you want, and assign a "group ring tone" to it. When they call, they get the special ring tone you assigned that group. The only hitch is that the contact has to be stored on the phone to be placed into any custom groups.
I would assume that it would be the same or similar in the CM mods, and could be a work around if individual ring tones aren't working as they are intended to do.

on ROMs such as CM6/7 Dalvik gets cleaned up continuously, dunno about stock ROMs. Reason for wiping it when flashing ROMs is 1 just a good practice and 2 helps the ROM not to get confused lol. Or thats my take on it anyhow.

This may seem like a real noob question( but hey I am a noob:)). Anyway Im confused about being connected via USB to my PC when flashing cm7. I already flashed once which resulted in a boot loop so im attempting a flash again. The first time I did it I was not USB connected at all. However, I've been reading and watching tutorials and some say USB connected, some say USB mounted, and some flashes were done with no USB connection at all. I'm just wondering if it matters at all which way you flash. Can Someone clear this up for me so I can finally get this flash thing over with!...Ugh!! thanks lol

shouldnt matter ;)

long as the battery has a good charge on it no reason to have it connected.

Cool! That's all I wanted to know (for now). Ok, Im going to try flashing CM7 for lazy ascends right now.
I think I've been reading too much stuff and totally confusing myself. Thanks again:)

When I'm flashing, do I need to fix permissions, and what is it exactly?

From what I've read, it's only necessary when you're experiencing force close issues, etc.
A good explanation of what exactly causes this to occur can be found (I believe), in the Clockworkmod or CYANOGENMOD website.
Use fix permissions in ROM MANAGER to view which permissions are being fixed.
It's usually good to run this after loading up a newly flashed ROM w/GAPPS & all your other assorted apps.

Me go GOOGLE now & find the source of information about fix permissions.Be right back.

EDIT:Check out the CYANOGENMOD WIKI/FIX PERMISSIONS. It gives an excellent overview of the subject.

Anyone know if there is a hack or app that that can increase your bandwidth on the hauwei ascend. Im pretty sure cricket (my cellular carrier) is throttling me. Any info at all? Thanks

I'm surprised to hear it. In June I did 4.7GB and haven't had my service disconnected nor did I notice throttling. Anyways, I don't know any bandwith hacks either.

Yes you can buy roaming minutes but you need to pay for it. It is nationwide not international. You can add a $10 international plan but it is only to make a call from US to a in service phone in another country. If you are traveling to another country you need to connect to your phone to one of their carriers once you are there. You can only connect to CDMA because Cricket is a CDMA carrier and the Ascend is not a global phone.

Uncheck the AUTOMATIC box,set the time, check the AUTOMATIC box.
If that doesnt work, put the phone in AIRPLANE mode, set the time, take the phone out of AIRPLANE MODE.

ardchoille posted an excellent explanation of what is going on in your phone, why you don't need an app killer, and why you should let those apps just run.

Personally, I've found that if my cache cleaner doesn't fix things up, then just leaving it be for a couple minutes lets things finish. But if I'm having repeated issues, I start looking at the apps I've installed or updated recently, and begin uninstalling until I find the culprit. It's taken me a few days to figure out what's wrong a couple times. The last big lag issue I had was after an Opera update. Totally screwed my phone up. Took some time to find that one.
