Exactly. My Droid Charge from 2011 could accomplish this feat only having a single core 1ghz processor, but could only do both when connected to lte because that was the second radio. If I was on 3g, it couldn't be done because that was being used for voice. My Gnex can do the same, but I think this feature is becoming a thing of the past because they are moving towards the one radio build into the processor method in order to save battery. That's how all the modern Qualcomm S4 & S4 pro processors work at least.

maybe its thats not VoLTE? lol simultaneous talk and data... ive been told it has something to do with duel core prossesors (dont think that is even possible....) but the motion is single core.... hmmm... and so it the esteem

Really!?!!?? Hmmm... I told you I was going in blind... Lol I honestly did not know that. On the app android system info I'd doesn't say anything about cores... It it shows processor 0 and thats it... No processor 1.... Hmmm...

Some verizon phones are capable of simultaneous voice/data due to have dual radio chips as opposed to 1 that switches between the different types of connections. It results in weaker battery life though usually because it has to power both. Maybe that's the situation?

All phones with a data connection (even that ancient Razer or whatever) have multiple radios. One for voice and sms, one for 2g, one for 3g, one for 4g, one for bluetooth and one for WiFi. Some phones even have multiple antennas for certain radios (usually 4g) for increased throughput

VoLTE simply lets the phone use the 4g antenna for voice which gives you much better bandwidth. The advantage of that is you can do other things (like stream video or transfer other files/data) over to the phone you are connected with, since the standard voice line is not fast enough for any of that. which is why it is only used for voice and sms, I.E. you can turn off your data connection and wont be able to receive or send MMS messages but you can still make calls and receive standard SMS messages.
