Help GPS App errors on HTC HD2

Hi there folks,
I hope this post finds you all in the best of your health.
This is my first post on this forum.
Im running my HTC HD2 on Android 2.3/Gingerbread

The issue with the app that I use called " GPS App" is that every time i start it up its crashed with this error "the application GPS Status (process com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2)has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again).

I have another app called "whats my location" that crashes in a similar way, It doesnt crash all the time , so I really dont have the exception/error message right now.

But have anyone's app ever crashed like this?
Am I missing something?
Am I doing something wrong?
All help is monumentally appreciated folks !!!!!!!!!!

Thanks
King Ko0o0pa !

Welcome to AndroidForums.com! :)

Ok, there has been GPS issues with Gingerbread for a while, not just with the HD2, but others that have not seen an "official" update.

In order to help a bit more, can you please tell us the following:

ROM Name and version (link to where you downloaded it will help too)
Carrier
Location (country mainly)
How you are running the ROM:
--NAND
--SD
--Clockwork Mod

Also if you are doing anything special with it:
--data.img on SD
--app2sd (ext partition)

All of this information will help us understand what you are running and if we can help with it.

Thanks!

Hey there Talderon ,
Thanks for the response...
Wow You guys are simply awesome !!!!!!!!!
So here are the responses to the questions you asked:

ROM Name and version (link to where you downloaded it will help too)
Carrier: Family Mobile( Tmobile plan sold by Walmart)
Location (country mainly):Dallas,TX.
How you are running the ROM:
I run 2 files on my SD card...CLRCAD and then HARET.
FYI i was had issues when i installed it , turned out that i forgot to copy data.img ( there were 3 so i picked the largest in size and copied it to android folder or i think it was the data folder..i cant remember..phone is with wife at home...) but yeah the whole android setup including data.img is on SD Card, i didnt do anything funky with it.

What ROM am I using and where did I get it from?
The name is MDJ_gINGERbREAD_hd2_V.1.0_RC4_RAM_MODDED and i think as far as I remember , i got it from a website called Mediafire ( works like those websites like rapidshare)

Also if you are doing anything special with it:
and I dont know what this means...apps2sd...?so im sure i didnt do this part
--app2sd (ext partition)

I really hope to fix this issue my friend , and i really appreciate your response & help.
thanks,
King Koopa !

Many of the Android ROM's (SD and NAND) have issues with battery drain, that's what happens when you run an OS not intended for the device. Dev's are working hard to fix this.

Running the ROM from SD causes other issues and honestly, I would flash it to NAND.

Another issue to contend with when running a data.img file larger than 1GB is that some market apps will not install and tell you that you are out of space, which is not true, but it happens.

GPS issues abound with Gingerbread, but more work is being done every day to help with this. I would make sure you have the latest and if GPS is something you REALLY need, then go with a Froyo ROM for the time being.

I'll come back to this when I am not at work and address some other issues. :)

The latest version of CM7 works great, GPS and everything. The first time you use GPS, it may take a bit to get a fix, but it's pretty quick after that. :)

ok so never mind , i was able to do all these steps on this link
1) Take the two files from the gps fix and put them on the root of your sd card (or wherever is easier to locate for you).
2) use Root Explorer to copy these files to their respective destinations
2.5) libgps.so goes to system/lib/ and gps.bravo.so goes to system/lib/hw/
3) go into your system/etc folder and edit the gps.conf file to whatever your gps zone that is closest to you is.
4) chmod 777 the two files by long pressing the files, selecting permissions and ticking all boxes.

[05-JAN][FIX] GPS on Gingerbread :) - Page 5 - xda-developers

first i used to get to the menu where i could speak or type the destination in google navigation app and then get directions with a message at the bottom saying searching for gps..........

now i cant do anything , it starts up and a little windows pops up saying "searching for location" ive waited 2-3 mins....and no difference..still does the same thing...

any ideas !?!?!
there has got to be a way without re-installing CM7(nand)
