Root GPS.conf mods via someone at xda forum

Here is the modified gps.conf following the instructions by genesis3 on XDA (Note from genesis3: "I get ~7 second cold start lock times with this, and too-fast-to-measure hot restart locks. Before it could take 3-4 minutes to get a lock on a cold boot.")

gps.conf

this file needs to replace the original at: /system/etc/gps.conf

I suggest you rename the original file to gps.old.conf

I ran his modifications and just got a lock nearly instantly inside the building I`m in which is impressive to say the least. This file is uploaded directly off my phone. your mileage may vary. Let me know if you have success and that the upload took correctly. Thanks.

Not yet, I'm at work all day so I won't be able to test it until I'm back home tonight.

If enough people confirm that it works I can make the zip while I'm here and have someone on IRC test to make sure it works then release the link, if I get home first I will test and make the zip then release.

I'm testing right now.

On another note, it seems like I can't get into the IRC- sometimes 404, other times, it says "You have not been invited".
 
It worked, just took ~20 seconds for lock this time, last time it never locked. I recommend you make a flash able zip.
 
I actually changed my Config file out with this when he first posted it and I for one have had good results... Not as good as his but good nonetheless. I lock at about 30 seconds every time now

Same here, lock in anywhere from 20-40 seconds. I have to say, the GPS accuracy is much higher than the Optimus V.
 
I can also confirm this works. Before 1-2 (up to 4 minutes) to fix. I have tested four different times and averaging <20 second fix!!! :D

Also I used the flashable zip, thanks merkuralex, with no issues :D:D
 
Just copied this over, rebooting now, and I will see how it works.

**EDIT**

Just tried locating my device using seekdroid, and it popped up on the web almost instantly.
 
No joy for me. I manually added it and tried the zip still takes 3-5 minutes on a cold boot. On a side note Navigon shows me at -75 feet altitude when in S.F. Ca.
 
So, after I did this (and I don't know why this would happen) I can no longer connect to USB of my Win7 or Win XP system, I just get USB device not recognized
 
Guys reaffirm my skills here, please:

To apply the flash zip-

1. Copy .zip over to SD Card
2. Boot into CWM
3. Select file from SDcard (do I need to rename to update.zip?)
4. Apply zip
5. Reboot

I have done it before on OV and G-Tab, but just want to be sure and not brick it.

Those are the steps I followed. You don't need to rename the zip.
 
**UPDATE**

I went out for a walk just now, and tried to use navigation, and it didn't lock on for the whole 40 mins.

However, in the car maps works fine???
