Help GPS Issue

Not sure if this is purely a Skyrocket thing, but has anyone else had issues with the GPS finding your location, etc? I first noticed it when using the Foursquare app, it couldn't even ballpark my location and told me to make sure my GPS is enabled and try again. Just to see if it was the app being dumb, I opened up Navigator, and got pretty much the same response. It just says "Finding location" for ever, and nothing ever happens.

I've Google'd it and have heard a few others complaining about the same thing on the Skyrocket, and some people also say that there's always been GPS issues with Samsung Android devices.
Anyone know if this is something internally which warrants a phone being replaced, or just something that will eventually be patched up with an update? This is coming from an ex-iPhone user of 4 years who just recently switched to the Skyrocket a few days ago, so I'm still more or less clueless when it comes to Android devices.

Thanks!

my gps has been good, even indoors it gets a lock after a short time, outdoors it takes no more than 10 seconds max

Just finished a 3 week road trip using my GPS 100% of the time. It failed me only two times over 4k miles. At the grand canyon and in the mountains in new Mexico. I had no network connection at either location.

Everywhere else it locked immediately within 15 ft or less.

I will pop in tomorrow with instructions on how to make GPS more accurate. Right mow I have to crash.

If you guys are having issues download gps status from the market

Open the app, press menu then tools
Now choose clear agps state

Repeat the steps and pick download

i just bought the samsung skyrocket 4 days ago.

not once in those 5 days have i had a GPS fix on my location. I have checked here in manahattan (New York City), and out on long island in the suburbs. my 'maps' application never approximates my location with less than 300-800 meters accuracy.

i downloaded GPS Status, and have ran it over a dozen times. without any gps lock. At most I have seen 1/12 fix/satalites. I have left my phone plugged in by the window and let the program run for over 2 hours with no gps lock.

the people at the att store say that is just how samsung phones work, so they won't exchange it for a new one. so i am really hoping people on this forum can let me know if this is the case, that in fact the GPS chip in the samsung skyrocket never works, and you never actually get an acceptable gps fix, and all maps are driven by 'assisted gps', not the GPS chip.

please help, i really want to keep this phone, but if the gps chip never works, i am afraid i just can't accept that type of flaw in design and function.

have you tried using the GPS outside?

If im in doors it takes 10 sec or so.
If Im out side its less than 3 sec

thanks for the feedback. i opted to force the att store to exchange it for a different one. gets a gps lock, even on the streets of manhattan in under 20 seconds. works like a charm. so glad i don't listen to att representatives.
