Help GPS issues -wait for ICS?

Perhaps this is a silly question...

Seems like there have been quite a few mentions lately regarding GPS slow to locate/lock, etc. Some have mentioned a new SIM card as the solution. What is the consensus - is there any reason to wait for ICS before doing anything else? Is there anything in ICS that "fixes" the GPS thing?

My GPS was fine for a year or more, then for the last 2-3 months it has been rough. Sometimes the problem is amplified by lack of a data connection.

Although I've seen the claims that a new sim card helped, logically I have no idea why that would improve GPS performance.

ICS smooths out so many other things, I wouldn't be surprised if it would help GPS work faster. Although like anything, you can type "ICS GPS" into a search engine and find people saying their GPS got worse after switching to ICS, not better.

I know I had recently put my Bionic back to stock thinking the official ICS update would be out soon, and then one day when I needed to use the GPS navigation, it took five minutes to even locate me. I've since gone back to using the ICS leaks and GPS can always locate me rather quickly and figure out directions.

In the time it would take to go get a new sim card, you might as well just try an ICS leak, or wait for the official update to come out. Maybe I'm not educated about how the sim card would possibly relate to GPS performance but to me it sounds like saying putting different headlights in your car got you better gas mileage. Seems totally unrelated.

On .905 mine got to where it would never seem to lock on. I updated to ICS .232 and it locks within seconds.

Thanks, all. I tried the A-GPS stuff last night. Used this morning and it did seem better. I'll post again after a couple days on more test results.
