I am having issues with a gps app I use called CoPilot Truck. I contacted copilot support and this is what they told me.
The heading issue that you are referencing is one we have seen before. The problem is actually with the GPS receiver of the device. Unlike other GPS apps, CoPilot does not gather heading information from the device's magnetometer. CoPilot gathers heading information from the NMEA messages provided by the device's GPS receiver. If the GPS receiver does not emit heading information within its NMEA messages CoPilot defaults to North Up. The chevron will always point north despite the direction you are traveling.
We suggest you try disabling your GPS receiver, and then enabling the receiver after you have launched CoPilot. If this doesn't provide a temporary solution, you may want to see if this is something that Samsung can correct for you.
I am rooted and am currently on pac in blacks rom. If I contact Samsung about this issue, do I tell them that I'm rooted and on a custom rom, because they might have me do some things (troubleshooting) that if rooted, could brick my phone?? How do I proceed if I want to contact Samsung to see if they could fix the gps issue?? Thank you for your feedback.
I am rooted and was on a custom rom when I was having these issues. I have since upgraded to the rooted version of the official jb update and I just tried copilot and it seems to be working properly. I am guessing it might have something to do with having the source now. That is weird but I'm just glad its working properly now. Just posting this in case anyone else is having the same issue.
